Floating Class: | No |
Term: | Spring 2023 |
Description: | In this hands-on class students will learn the basics of working with clay to construct functional pieces for their own homes and spaces, such as nature bowls and Japanese teacups, tiles and vases. As students carve, smooth and sculpt, they will be given fresh ideas on design and decoration, receiving both guidance and creative freedom. Students will glaze and take home their finished pieces when fired. Over the course of our 16 weeks together this class becomes one of the anchors in the week, a pause in the day to tap into the creative and the tactile. Students will have some cleanup chores, like washing the wooden tools and sponges in the provided water buckets and wiping down their areas after glazing days. Junior artists are bound to find great satisfaction in this class, bringing clay to life with design and patterns, weaving the art of drawing into the clay. |
