This class will cover the founding documents that form the basis for the US government and its structure (Articles of Confederation, Declaration of Independence, US Constitution) and the writings of the men who wrote these documents (Federalist Papers and Anti-Federalist Papers).
Students will need to create a free account with Hillsdale College Online. We will be using several of their online courses as the basis for this year-long civics course: Intro to the Constitution, Constitution 101, Constitution 201, Federalist Papers, Presidency and the Constitution, US Supreme Court, Congress: How it Works and Why It Doesn’t, Public Policy from a Constitutional Viewpoint, Civil Rights in American History, American Citizenship and Its Decline

Join the hypothetical plane as it takes off to fly to different areas of the earth weekly. Let me know if your child has allergies as sometimes I will bring food originating from the place. We will have hands-on activities to go along with what we're learning and a short video sometimes of the place. One example is drawing on a t-shirt (I'll need sizes) something they liked from each country and taking it home at the end of the semester. Join the adventure as we explore God's world together!

We will briefly explore other civil wars, slavery, and the faith of popular and political figures of the era, as well as a chronological look at the lead up, the war, and the long term effects that lead directly into modern cultural war issues.
Teacher will provide course text book. During this course we will be exploring a Civil War novel which is also provided by the teacher. Students will have access to extra resources on the subject, if needed.
