Using their hands to explore materials like, paint, play dough, puzzles, sand as well as things to write with. We will work with children on respecting others and working together. Children build there social skills and self control. With my support children learn to resolve conflicts that come up during play. Emotional development in class will help your child recognize and manage their own feelings and behaviors. We will also practice showing concern for others and cultivating empathy. I will provide materials to use and time to explore them. Please send a healthy large snack and a full water bottle with your child's name labeled on it. Please dress them in clothing that can get messy or stained. If there are young please have extra clothes.

Preschool geared class time! Our daily schedule includes a block of time each day when children choose an activity from a number of developmentally appropriate options. During free choice a student might create art, build structures with blocks, engage with our sensory table or look at books from our small library. Children move freely selecting a variety of play that interests them. I use that time as an opportunity to teach and build relationships with students to help learn and facilitate conflict that arises from play. After this block of time we have a clean up warning, followed by a clean up song. When the room is complete we sit in circle time for a variety of learning games and songs. We sing each other's names and talk about the weather. Each child has an opportunity to give a report on what they see outside. We sing the days of the week, talk about colors, numbers and discuss the Calendar daily. We typically read a story, play a game,play instruments for our group activities. This facilitates cognitive development and encourages social skills such as taking turns, cooperation, reciprocal language skills, sharing and empathy. Please include a healthy snack and take your child to the restroom before each class. I will provide water and cups. Please send them in clothes that can get messy!

Preschool Learning Playgroup's learning focus is to build on social-emotional skills, solving social problems, while tying in academic learning through their interest's and play. We will have a short circle time, story, music and movement, stations where children can choose activities they would like to participate in, snack time, and our favorite SHARE TIME! During Share Time, children get to bring something from home and share about it with their friends. It's is a fun way to practice language skills and learning how to take turns, trade, or share. A small snack will also need to be provided for from home. This class is designed to flow with children's interest's as we practice those important social-emotional skills. More and more studies are showing the importance of play not just to support healthy social emotional skills but cognitive brain development and I would add a child's spiritual health as well. The wonder of God is so tangible to a child and my aim is to create a space that nurtures and supports a child's natural awe and curiosity. We will begin our class with a fun and engaging circle time that introduces a new social emotional skill we will be working on during our choice time. Children will then choose from various play stations prepared in the room for them to do what children naturally do best: imaginative & creative play. I utilize resources from Second Steps Early Learning Curriculum & the Zones of Regulation material that supports social emotional intelligence. Our class time is purposefully a little longer than most classes so that we can provide sufficient time for children to engage in play, create, build, work through social conflicts, and practice problem solving. My background is in early childhood education, I was a Head Start teacher, children's pastor, I am a mom of 3 beautiful children, and most importantly I'm passionate about following God's lead in supporting what He already is doing in the lives of His children.
