Description:
An introduction to the art of tap dancing. We will learn the basics of tap and create dances using our new steps and rhythm.
Requirements:
Tap shoes required. This class will be performing in the Spring Dance Shows the week of May 15-20. We are still working on our plans for the spring show, but please reserve that week now on your calendar. Our format will most likely be similar to our last spring show, with our youngest students performing in two of the four shows. Details will be related in full at our mandatory parent meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday, February 27th. Parental attendance to this meeting is essential in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer. Each family is required to have one parent volunteer to help in some way with the show. Welcome to our level 2 Tap dance class, where we delve into the captivating world of rhythm, syncopation, and sound. Through graceful movements, we'll create enchanting dances that truly express ourselves through the power of music. Our classes are thoughtfully divided into four levels, ensuring that each student is placed according to their individual proficiency. Don't worry if you find yourself repeating levels—it's a common and encouraged practice as you strive for mastery in this beautiful dance form. Join me on a weekly basis as we embark on a journey to build upon the skills you've cultivated in previous years of training. Together, let's create joyful noise that will resonate with our souls! This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. Please wear comfortable clothing and tap shoes. Students will be performing in a Winter Showcase on January 19th as well as the Spring Dance Show in May (16th-19th). Welcome to Tap 2! In this class we will build off the foundation we learned in Tap 1. We will learn more about rhythm, syncopation, and sound. Students are required to wear dance/loose attire, have tap shoes and are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them to class. This is a yearlong class and students will be performing the Tea Dance in our Nutcracker presentation (December 5th-7th) as well as the Spring Dance Show “Moses and The God Who Delivers” (May 15th-18th). This class will be performing in Show B. Our syllabus containing more details about the shows and pertinent dance class information is located here on our website. This is not a class for the faint of heart!.... But it will be TONS of fun! Our most advanced group of dancers will be challenged with choreography that I give them after seeing their abilities, and will have opportunities to come up with and teach their own choreography to the rest of the class! I look forward to seeing all of the creativity and hard work from these students! This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year.
