Description:
Students will use hand building techniques (pinching, coil building, slab work and kurinuki) to create functional wares. There will be a variety of follow along projects and time and space for exploring their own ideas. Focus will be invited to give attention to the elements of design as we analyze the thickness of the piece, the feel of the shape in the hand, the balance of any attachments such as handles or knobs, the finish of the piece: does it feel too heavy, too rough, are the joins well attended and clean? We will also explore a variety of surface decoration techniques such as: sgraffito, Mishima, wax and paper resist, and slip trailing.

Description:
Have you ever wanted to learn some cool moves and to dance with a fun group? Then join us as we groove to contemporary Christian hip hop music while learning a mix of hip hop and jazz dance. Dance moves will always be conservative and may include props, tumbling, or special light effects. Students should come to class wearing shoes and clothes easy to dance in. Jazz shoes may be worn but are not necessary. Dancers will have the opportunity to share their dance at our Spring Show. The Spring Show is scheduled for May 21st at 6:30 PM and 22nd at 2 and 6:30 PM, with a dress rehearsal the evening before on May 20th at 6:30 PM. Students taking multiple classes (or siblings) receive half off their second class taken with the same instructor. Fees may be paid monthly or by semester. Costume fees for the Spring Show are due by March 15th. (Estimated $25 to rent.)

(We are adjusting some things that should enable students to invite more family and friends to enjoy the event. We are considering all young student and level one classes to be split among the performances, but also to offer more performances that will allow better viewing opportunities and parking.) Parental attendance to this meeting is mandatory in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer’s performance. Please read the updated class syllabus that is pinned to your class channel. Students taking multiple classes (or siblings) receive 25% off their second class taken with the same instructor. Students should come to class wearing jazz shoes and clothes easy to dance in. Students may do some tumbling and/ or flag twirling depending on their interest. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year.
Requirements:
Students must have taken at least two years of hip hop or jazz dance experience or have teacher approval.

This class will be performing in the Spring Dance Shows the week of May 15-20. We are still working on our plans for the spring show, but please reserve that week now on your calendar. Our format will most likely be similar to our last spring show, with our youngest students performing in two of the four shows. Details will be related in full at our mandatory parent meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday, February 27th. Parental attendance to this meeting is essential in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer. Each family is required to have one parent volunteer to help in some way with the show. Description:
This class is for beginning, intermediate and advanced pottery wheel students. Students will be guided in wheel throwing techniques with the goal of making functional pieces for use in their homes and spaces. They will be encouraged to bring their own ideas to the classroom. Students will receive instruction in basic terminology of the ceramic’s studio pertaining to clay body, stages of clay, surface decorating techniques and the many curious and helpful tools potters use to create their own signature style. Teaching through lecture & demonstration, as well as 1:1 instruction will all be given in this course.

Description:
Come learn the basics of the pottery wheel! Students will learn wedging, throwing trimming and glazing, completing ceramics projects that they will be able to take home when/after firings are complete. All ceramic work created in the studio can be used in your home and will be dishwasher oven and food safe. Returning students with 1-2 semesters of ceramics under their belt are welcome to repeat this class to improve their skills. We will be utilizing all class time for throwing and trimming, spending 5-10 minutes with basic tool clean up before the next class enters.)
