I have built a diverse and rewarding career as a pianist and piano instructor, beginning with my college years where I studied a minor in music. I later served as a jury pianist for both high school and college students, gaining valuable experience in performance evaluation and collaborative playing.
My work expanded into church music, where I provided piano accompaniment for services at a small church, and eventually into school-based instruction. At a private school, I accompanied chapel services and taught private piano students, further developing my skills as both an educator and performer. After leaving the school setting, I continued offering private piano instruction independently.
Most recently, my time at Firmly Planted has allowed me to return to my passion for teaching, helping students grow in both confidence and musical ability. I am continually refining my teaching techniques and deepening my understanding of how to effectively guide new learners as they begin their musical journeys.
I charge $100 a month for 30 min lessons.
Requirements:
Must be at least 6 years old and reading somewhat independently. Beginning or Intermediate level is acceptable.
We will be learning about western expansion through the eye of Laura Ingles and the Little House Picture Book series. Each week we will read a Little House Picture Book, learn about life in a simpler time, and do a craft. We will have fun trying out a little "rustic" cooking, (churning butter for example) and complete a pioneer times lap book.
Requirements:
Ability to cut, paste, small handy crafts, and minimal writing.
In this preschool class, we will learn about all sorts of things that GO! From tractors and excavators to trains and planes, immerse your child in a learning environment where they will grow through circle time, arts and crafts and stories. We will practice early reading and writing skills as well as learn how to share and work within a classroom environment. We will read a story every week about a different type of vehicle and then spend time doing an activity that is based upon that week's story.
Requirements:
Student must be able to leave their parent and attend the class. Students must also be able to sit for a 10 minute circle time, follow basic directions, and use scissors and craft supplies carefully.
Get ready…for a totally “get up and get moving" class. We will " Play to Learn" about the 7 continents through songs, crafts, map skills, artists, music, games, legos, perception training (balance beam, coordination, ball skills...) cultural sensory bins, animals and more. Students will explore a new continent every 2 weeks. Our weekly songs will help your child to memorize the 7 continents & oceans of the world, the color spectrum, calendar skills, skip counting, the Fruits of the Spirit and more. I’m so excited to "Play to Learn" about the world with your kiddos.
Requirements:
Be kind and respectful to the teacher and their classmates.
Kids should be ready for activities that take 10-15 minutes each.
No reading or writing mastery is required, although there are plenty of opportunities for kids who are ready for that.
