TUTORING: Firmly Planted is excited to provide teens with the opportunity to earn money while tutoring a subject they’ve proven to be efficient in. The younger students being tutored benefit by learning from someone closer to their age, potentially creating a lasting friendship. Appointments with the teen tutors are all scheduled through Collette Connor (colletteconnorfirmlyplanted@gmail.com) at a standard rate of $17 an hour. MENTORING: A part of His Heart Foundation, MentorSuccess is a mentoring program that utilizes curated books, literature, and games to teach vital leadership success skills through a caring connection with a trained teen. This is a great opportunity for your student to form a relationship with an adult or teen mentor at the Center. These mentors will become like a buddy to your student as well as someone who will listen, read books, and play games with them. Your student may hardly notice how much they’re learning and the valuable life lessons being taught, while engaging in fun activities with their new friend and mentor. Appointments with mentors are all scheduled through Collette Connor (colletteconnorfirmlyplanted@gmail.com) at a standard rate of $17 an hour.
Coach Matt's goal is to develop champions beyond the wrestling mat. He has a structured program based on values, commitment, and skills development to help these boys grasp and grow into the men of God they're meant to be. We will unpack the pillars of being a real man: rejecting passivity, accepting responsibility, leading courageously, and expecting a greater reward.
Our theme is based on 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.”
The fundamentals of wrestling include basic skills, drills, and techniques in a fun and positive environment. Our practices are focused on more than just wrestling; we aim to create a supportive and encouraging space for your boys. Wrestling is a unique sport because it teaches values that last a lifetime. It builds character and teaches kids how to overcome obstacles and failure, handle emotions, respect authority, have a strong work ethic, discipline, resilience, accountability, and be a good teammate.
We will arrange some intersquad/internal competitions so the boys can showcase what they’ve learned.
Wrestling shoes are not necessary. Please bring plenty of water and socks.

Welcome to The Art In Beekeeping! In this class we’ll be painting and drawing and crafting- all around the same bee-autiful theme: HONEYBEES! While we craft we’ll be learning all about the characteristics of the honeybee, the bee-ology, and the responsibilities of the beekeeper. So bring your creativity along as we learn about the honey-making creatures and their beauty in art. But bee careful, things could get sticky. Students are welcome to bring an apron or oversized t-shirt for messy crafting
Slow stitching is a textile art. This is a mindful, creative and ancient practice of using needle and thread, ribbon, lace, buttons, paper, sequins, etc. to create art on fabric. It's a form of hand stitching that can involve a variety of techniques such as patchwork, embroidery and creating circles. This stitching differs from traditional stitching used for mending and making garments because the process is more important than the end result. But skills learned can be used for those things down the road. The goal is to be present and in the moment, listening to your creativity, and allowing your hands to flow across the fabric. This can be good for mental health, calming and focus.
This is a great class for both boys and girls to create art using recycled and untraditional mediums. Each child will get their own starter stitching kit to bring home once class is over. This will be a "go at your own pace" type of class. The students can take their time on one or multiple pieces over the 16 weeks.
Requirements:
Each child must be mature enough to follow directions and be very careful using sharp objects like scissors and needles.
