Join our 90 minute Theater Showcase class and bring your performances to the spotlight! This dynamic course provides students with the opportunity to develop their acting, improvisation, and stage presentation skills through rehearsing and performing in a culminating showcase. Whether you're experienced or new to the stage, you'll collaborate with classmates to select, rehearse, and perform scenes and monologues that highlight your unique talents. The class emphasizes creativity, confidence, faith and teamwork, offering a fun and exciting environment to shine on stage.
Performances will be held in the auditorium on the last day of class.
Come join us for an original production of the Escapades Of Denston Thomas! Together we will follow the Character's of Elsie and Amelia whose father is drafted in the WW1. After a trip to the book store the girls are pulled into the book “Escapades of Denston Thomas” by non other than Denston Thomas himself. The girls are brought along to save Denston’s hero Maximus Leviticus. During this adventure Denston learns that he needs to surrender his adventurous dreams to God, and decides to serve the kingdom in a different way. Returning home, the girls and their mother learn the importance of trusting in God and surrendering worries—even their worries about their papa.
This course offers the chance to be in something bigger and to build a community of faith and love around our students.
Each student will be assigned a role after auditions on 1/16-1/17. The Admin fee is paid to FPHRC. This fee includes Class Fee, Supply Fee and Admin Fee. The Supply Fee covers, the script and Show Shirt. Please see the class requirements for mandatory dates and personal show box items. All enrollments will be waitlisted. Performances. Students are required to wear jazz shoes, modesty clothes (tank top/leotard and bike shorts), and an oversized button-up shirt (to protect costumes) for all dress rehearsals and shows. Costumes are provided, however students will need to supply a show box with various materials such as makeup and accessories. Throughout the term, parents are expected to take turns being available to help during class time and are expected to volunteer during tech week as well as the production. Please note, if a script needs to be replaced, there is a $15 script replacement fee.

We do everything from making props, building sets, light and sound design and working backstage during production. As a teacher, I push students to put their best work into each element. I also emphasize teamwork as every member of CREW is vital to the success of the show. Students who join this class should be able to be self-directed, responsible and able to work as a team player. This age-old model of transference of craft skills, ideas, and practice will provide a unique learning opportunity for your student. In this class we will discuss in-class helper guidelines tips and techniques, studio equipment training, and chore expectations. Apprentices will be trained in all the nuances and needs of the duties that are unique to our studio as well as discussion/exposure to alternative types of studio environments.

Apprentices need to help in some of the scheduled classes being held in the ceramics studio. Any class Apprentices choose for their own study will be billed at a 25% reduced fee for every hour of class they help in. Apprentices will be invited to assist in studio activities such as kiln loading and unloading as well as private use of the studio when no classes are present. Additionally I will request occasional studio work days for tidying the studio between sessions and general maintenance of shared class tools and supplies.
Students will use hand building techniques (pinching, coil building, slab work and kunikuri) to create functional wares. Functional wares are items such as: mug, plate, platter, charcuterie board, bowl, spoon etc. Focus will be invited to give attention to the thickness of the piece, the finish of the piece: does it feel too heavy, too rough, are the joins well attended and clean? Creativity is invited to the class as well, functional pottery can be fun! No previous pottery experience needed. Bring sketch book and pencil.
Students will learn hand building techniques with a mid-range clay body. The focus of the projects will be sculptural in form. Potential projects: wind chimes, garden art, figurines, luminaries. The focus will be on form and decoration with attention to the drying process and nurturing your project(s) through all the stages of greenware. Previous experience with clay is not required. Bring sketch book and pencil.

Apprentices will be invited to assist in studio activities outside of class time such as kiln work, clay reclaim and other large tasks. During some breaks there will be open studio times only for apprentices, as well as private opportunities with approval by Miss Tracy.
