Is your child ready to hop, bound, run, dive, leap, jump, turn, kick and stretch ? Groovin Storytime for kids will encourage age appropriate movement and stories that help strengthen fine motor and gross motor skills while expanding our language skills. In this program, we will introduce stories and body movement in a very fun, loving and professional environment. We will work on skills such as rhythm, coordination, self confidence, discipline and structure. In addition we will also work on social skills like taking turns, making friends, teamwork and listening skills. We will use body actions to communicate an image (leaf falling) , communicate a journey (seeds growing into plants reaching for the sun) or communicate feelings such as strength and joy. Both boys and girls enjoy these classes. Stories will be preschool age appropriate and imaginative for the children. Please have your child in comfortable clothes to move in. Take your child to the restroom before class begins.

Learn and build on the basic principles of hand-building with clay. Projects may include: functional pots, sculpture, tiles and more. The projects will encourage freedom of expression, allowing students to personalize their piece while also nurturing the need to follow a process and value the structure inspired by successful ceramic projects. Functional pieces such as cups, plates and bowls will all be made from dishwasher and microwave safe materials, creating heirloom memories your family may enjoy for generations.

Schedule:
Monday - Art Studio - 129: 3:00 pm - 3:50 pm
Description:
PREREQUISITE - must have completed fall/winter term in order to register for this class. This year-long course teaches Chemistry from the Classical approach, promoting hands-on learning through science experiments, sketching, narration, and other activities. Students will focus on written work, aquisition of facts, memorization of vocabulary words, and more as we learn about the fascinating world of Science. Complete lab records and reports will be kept by each student, and they will also write narrative summaries of their reading and make timeline entries. This class is designed to have something for every type of learner. Colorful fact books make the content much more approachable to the younger student, and are helpful (but not necessary) for the student to have on hand.
Each student will need their own copy of the Chemistry For The Logic Stage Student Guide by Elemental Science.
Our sequence of study begins with the building blocks of Chemistry (Atoms, Ions, Metals, the elements of The Periodic Table) and moves to Principles in Chemistry. Here we will cover Solutions, Chemical Reactions, and Acids & Bases. Semester Two will cover the Chemistry of Life (Organic Chemistry, Chemistry of the Human Body, etc.)and the Chemistry of Industry (Soaps, Alloys, Farming, Coal & Oil products, Polymers, Adhesives, Ceramics, Fibers, Pigments, etc.).
Students will be expexted to complete 1-3 hours of homework each week, participate fully in all experiments, and keep accurate lab reports.
No advanced math is required for this class.
Additional texts recommended (but not required) include:
-DK Encyclopedia of Science, 2006 Edition
-DK Eyewitness Books: Chemistry, 2005 Edition
-The Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia, 2017 Edition
-The Usborne Illustrated Dictionary of Science, 2012 Edition

Schedule:
Wednesday - Classroom - 220: 11:00 am - 11:50 am
Description:
Join us for hands on Physics. This hybrid course is an exploration of high school physics from the perspective of the real world, taught through the eyes of an engineer. We'll learn about the equations of motion, mechanics and kinematics through experimentation, learning the laws of our world through experience in order to then carry this understanding into the future. Work with the teacher to understand the laws of physics as you create reports on your experiments, and then use what you learn in the term challenge, where you will apply your physics equations in a challenge build. Bring a notebook, pencil, scientific calculator, ruler, compass, protractor, eraser, scissors. Homework will be assigned bi-weekly in the form of physics reports on the section topic. Students will have two weeks to complete their reports. Homework will be assigned bi-weekly in the form of physics reports on the section topic.
