Do you want to know how to be a good pet owner? Would you like to know which animals make good pets? In this class you will be introduced to some familiar and unfamiliar animals as we learn together what is required to care for a pet. We'll play games, make crafts, watch short video clips, and even interact with some furry (and not so furry) pets. Throughout the course we will be creating and collecting mini books and students will construct a lapbook of their own on the last day of class to take home. Students will also have the opportunity to "borrow" a hamster and practice for a week if pre-approved by the parent. Some pets we will discover besides cats & dogs include rodents, reptiles, insects, fish and birds.
Take the mystery out of learning phonics & handwriting. This year-long class will use a multisensory/kinesthetic approach to introduce the short vowels sounds as your child begins to practice *reading & *writing CVC words (consonant/vowel/consonant, "mat"). Each week we will explore a new consonant letter for reading/phonics and proper letter formation, through the help of: puppets, songs, crafts, manipulatives, dress-up days, share days and snack days too.
Each little detective will be going through Explode the Code- Book 1 (I will provide). We will also be using corresponding Bob Book readers and Learning Without Tears concepts for our handwriting instruction.
Students will build a darling notebook of their projects and ETC pages to take home at the end of the year.
Requirements:
*Each child develops at a different rate. This class will focus on a playful, yet structured approach to get your child excited about learning. Kids are NOT required to read or write to join in the fun. Students will be
encouraged to follow 3-step directions, work independently, ask for help if needed, take turns and show kindness and respect to the teacher and fellow classmates.

This is a CORE class that meets twice a week for the full year. Parents are required to attend the mandatory Core Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 24th at 2pm, August 24th at 6pm, September 7th at 2pm, or September 7th at 6pm.
Physics is an applied math course that explains the physical laws guiding God's world. Topics will cover kinematics, forces, momentum, energy, fluids, thermodynamics, and more, all using a student-friendly text. This class is a good fit for students who enjoy math and science and are interested in a career in the STEM field. This is a full-year course intended to satisfy a student’s high school science credit requirements. Teacher will supplement the text content, administer labs, grade tests, and provide an overall course grade based on test scores, homework completion, and in-class participation. Parents will administer tests at home, sign off on all homework assignments, and maintain communication through Slack.
Requirements:
Students must have strong math skills - most physics problems involve solving for an unknown using multiple equations, unit conversions/dimensional analysis, and geometry concepts (sin, cos, tan). Math concepts will be taught in class and in the book but an underlying speed and accuracy with mathematics is vital. Prerequisites: Algebra 1/Geometry. Students must bring the textbook, a calculator WITH DISPLAY (such as: https://www.amazon.com/Texas-Instruments-Engineering-Scientific-Calculator/dp/B004NB[…]4894100&sprefix=graphing%2Bcalculato%2Caps%2C244&sr=8-14&th=1), a pencil, and spiral bound notebook to class. Materials fee includes the textbook provided by the teacher. Parents must sign off on all homework assignments

I was taught piano for 14 years, 9 of those years under Diane Stevens and the other 5 years of advanced piano under Colleen Adent. I was trained classically but also play chords for worship if you want to learn that instead! Not only will we be starting or continuing with your training but we’ll be looking into the technique of how you play to provide the best comfort for your hands. You will need to get Alfred lesson book 1A and theory book 1A if you are just starting out. If you are continuing piano, I will stick with the books you have been working through. I like to find fun pieces for my students as well if they have a song they want to learn. For that, I acquire a Musescore subscription every fall. Totally optional, it is an extra one time $5 from you if your child wants to learn recognizable songs outside of the lesson books. Please bring a notebook so I can write down your notes for each lesson. You can look back at the notes during the week to know what you need to work on. Please message me in Slack once you've applied so I can touch base with you regarding lesson times, thank you!
I teach private piano lessons from primer levels through level 6, customized to students’ needs, and with a commitment to developing students’ piano playing skills and love for music.

Hello! My name is Jennifer Faulkner and I welcome this opportunity to help raise up a new generation of musicians and worshippers at Firmly Planted! I love teaching and do so with creativity, kindness, and FUN! My students and I laugh often at lessons while taking learning seriously! Beginning to Intermediate piano lessons are 30-45 minutes at $110/$150 per month. I incorporate a multi-faceted approach using note-reading, fingering, technique, and ear training. Curriculum is varied and will be determined per student based on age, level of ability, goals of learning, and genre preference. Learning theory through creative games is incorporated at every lesson. Scales, chords and intervals are taught from the beginning with the goal of reading chord charts along with easier note reading. .
