In this hands-on course, students will explore the fundamentals of audio/visual technology with a focus on real-world applications like operating a soundboard, setting up microphones and stage equipment, managing projection slides for worship or presentations, and supporting live theater or chapel events. Through practice, coaching, and fun interactive activities, students will learn how to speak clearly, think on their feet, and present their best (and prepared) selves when it counts.

Description:Calling all Bible detectives - you are needed to help us solve a Bible Mystery!! In this class, we will be going through a Bible Curriculum that chronological walks your children through the Old Testament in search of clues for the Cross. We will be using the curriculum - In the Beginning . . . Jesus. It's specifically designed towards 3rd-5th graders but I'm willing to take some younger children as well. This class will be a very fun and engaging mystery type class where your child will learn about the Bible while acting as detectives. You will be required to purchase the child's workbook so that they can complete all the assignments during the class period. My hope and prayer is that your child will grow in their love for Jesus through this class and learn more about His Word and how he has desired to save us from the beginning.

Description:It can be hard to navigate the world today with conflicting messages coming at us. It's even harder for our kids. In this class the students will learn what is Biblical truth and how that is different from what we feel or what the world says truth is. We will be using Foundation Worldview curriculum on Biblical Worldview. These lessons will include a 10-15 min interactive video lesson, followed by a class discussion, and an activity such as: a worksheet, coloring sheet, or game. Some topics covered will be: truth is what is real, God is the source of truth, God is the creator, humans are God's image bearers, and right and wrong are truths, not feelings.

Biz Town Ages 9yrs-12yrs Williams, Jamie Spring 2025 Social Studies

Description:In this class for 4th-6th graders, we will be using curriculum from Junior Achievement and complete the course with a field trip to a simulated town in Portland. Students will learn about their roles as citizens, workers and consumers. We will discuss their responsibilities in a community and what a free enterprise system is. Money management skills will be introduced such as banking practices and writing checks. The culminating field trip is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6. We will meet at FPHRC and carpool to the simulation off Foster Rd in Portland. We will need a few chaperones to drive students and also assist with the simulation. There will be a limit to the number of chaperones we can take. The 4-5 hour simulation will allow students to be hands-on in a mockup community. They will be assigned jobs, receive paychecks and be able to purchase things with their income. A field trip permission slip will be required for this course.

Description:Traditionally this course is designed for elementary students but I have found it is more applicable and memorable if completed in middle school. Students will learn about income, banking, how to balance a bank account, spending and saving money, and about the roles that individuals play within an economic system. Generally, kids participate in a simulation at the conclusion of the class. We will hold our own simulation at the center where students will have a "job", earn "money", deposit their paychecks, balance their account, and shop/play at the other "stores".
