This is a hybrid drawing and handwriting class for young students between the ages of 6-10*. Using both Draw•Write•Now and Getty-Dubay® Italic Handwriting Series, students will enjoy a longer in-person studio class plus watch a shorter handwriting-specific video during the week. The longer class will be devoted mostly to the weekly drawing focus, while the online class time will be spent on italic cursive handwriting instruction. The main goal is to develop fine motor skills used in both drawing and handwriting strokes, and have fun doing it!
I will send a link to the 20-minute video weekly, and students can watch it at a convenient time during the week. They should also practice handwriting 10-15 minutes per day.
*(age is flexible, and at the parent’s and teacher’s discretion)
Requirements:
Students must be old enough to hold a pencil well enough to draw and write. They must practice handwriting daily during the week. There is no requirement to know manuscript writing prior to learning cursive. NOTE: Students must have access to the internet and be able to watch an online video each week.***
Supply fee includes: Book E of the Getty-Dubay handwriting curriculum and a Draw•Write•Now workbook, and art supplies • Supply & teacher payments are due January 9th. Families must respond to Groupzu invoices by this deadline to keep their standing in the class.
This is a 2 hour delight directed course for students who want more time/freedom exploring the medium of clay. Students are required to outline their own project objectives for the term. Students may check out books and magazines from our ever-growing library of Ceramic Literature. This class is a good fit only for students who can self-direct and work on their own during class. I will oversee their projects, answer questions, help plan, prep, process and trouble shoot all their work.

Enrollment is only for students who have previous class experience in our ceramic’s studio. This class is a good fit for students who want the freedom to explore the ceramics medium as their curiosity leads them. Students need to practice self-discipline and time management and be able to work independently.

Creativity is invited to the class; functional pottery is amazing to explore.
