- Production
Schedule: Wednesday - Shop - SHOP: 3:00 pm - 4:50 pm
Description:Come and join our behind-the-scenes team and be apart of the enchanting theatrical adaptation of *Charlotte’s Web*, the beloved classic by E.B. White. This heartwarming production brings to life the story of Wilbur the pig and his unlikely friendship with Charlotte, the clever spider. Participating in a theater crew offers a unique experience that combines creativity, teamwork and hands-on skills - for students to have the opportunity to see a show come together after weeks of hard work is immensely rewarding. At the forefront of our semester the class spends the majority of our time designing and building our sets and props. Towards the second half of the semester we plan to begin working in tandem with our actors, learning the more technical side of theater as well as backstage production planning. All of our hard work will culminate in the excitement of the live performances - filled with plenty of opportunities for learning to stay calm under pressure, how to quickly adapt, work on problem solving skills and effective communication with peers. Being a part of our crew theater team is so much more than executing an entertaining experience for audience members. We provide the opportunity for character growth that translates into each student's life "beyond the stage." This class involves working with younger cast members ages 8-12. Students should only sign up for this class if they are happy and willing to be role models for our younger students. This production will have two live performances on January 10th (adult tickets $10, child tickets $8). The admin fee for this production class includes all administrative, class, and supply fees. Musical Theater Kids Club Ages 6yrs-11yrs Cooper, Rene Spring 2023 Theater
Schedule: Tuesday - Auditorium - 002: 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm
Description:The child’s natural instinct for play is the foundation of the actor’s process. Using the game of make believe to get into the “shoes” of the character, we begin to play with the possibilities that game invites in us. In order to believe I am the character, I must begin to learn all I can about who “I” am in the role: what surrounds and affects me, what I know, where I have been and where I am going; what I want, and what I do to get it or to make it happen. We use improvisation to awaken and explore creative impulses. Theatre games and exercises expand imagination, awareness, concentration, expressiveness, and help build skills of communication, cooperation, and collaboration. Through text work designed for the young performer, we make strong, specific, meaningful connection to the language and circumstances of the play, bringing the author’s words to life. Through acting, young people gain compassionate insight about themselves and about the world around them; gain poise and confidence; develop problem-solving skills; and engage with peers. The musical Newsies and other group ensemble pieces will be the focus for our group collaboration. There will be no formal performance for this class, but we may perform at the craft faire in the spring.

Description:Many young students find History boring and have a hard time remembering things they learned in History class, but it is so important to know our history so why not have fun with it? In this class we will be learning about and reenacting 4 major events in American History and the details that led up to these events. The events are the American Revolutionary War, The Civil War, World War 1, & World War 2. Students will be given a part and a script and will perform each event.
