Description:This Middle School level course will focus on the Elements of Art and Composition through fun and interesting drawing projects. The course will enhance and round out your student’s education through the development of creativity, critical thinking skills, art history, and art appreciation. Students will be taught technical skills using graphite pencils and pen and ink during the fall semester, then shift to colored pencils, soft pastels, and oil pastels during the spring semester. For the best experience, Miss Lucinda recommends following this sequence. Artistic Pursuits is an award-winning comprehensive art program designed to involve students in the Creative Process while developing observational skills.

Description:This year-long studio course provides an introduction to the visual arts as a foundational base for your young student’s art education. Using Artistic Pursuits as the base curriculum, Miss Lucinda will offer hands-on experience with drawing and painting, along with various other fun media and techniques - plus some holiday projects added in. Students will learn to think like an artist, handle materials and understand the subject matter of the artist. Classes will include art history appreciation, demonstrations, and creative studio time, and will always include references to the Seven Elements of Art (Line, Space, Shape, Texture, Value, Form, and Color). Please note that this is a structured class that is a good fit for students that are interested in learning new things, and are able to listen to instructions and follow directions.

Description:This is a CORE class that meets twice a week for the full year. Parents are required to attend the mandatory Core Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 24th at 2pm, August 24th at 6pm, September 7th at 2pm, or September 7th at 6pm. My name is Jennifer and I am a deaf teacher and will be teaching this sign language class. This class is for first time sign language learners. We will learn the basics of the alphabet, numbers, and beginning signs. Since I am deaf, I will be signing at all times throughout the class and Summer St. John will be assisting if the students need help understanding what I am saying. I look forward to helping your student learn sign language in a fun filled way. There will be assigned homework this year to help round out the credit if you as the parent desire it to be a full high school language credit. The book required to purchase for this class can be found on amazon. It is called: Barron's American Sign Language: A Comprehensive Guide to ASL 1 and 2.
Requirements:Students must be able to conduct themselves responsibly in the class while continuing in their homework at home. Since this class is for a language credit, students must be willing to attend class, complete homework and show understanding of what is being taught in class.

Description:Wanting to better express yourself in sign language? This class dives deeper into ASL with conversation advice, vocabulary, and lots of active practice. The class is in full immersion to better equip students for conversing with deaf people. Students from Jennifer Zollo's ASL class are encouraged to join this class to advance their ASL skills!
Requirements:Students must know basic signs and the alphabet in order to gain the most from the class.

Astronomy Ages 15yr-18yr Andrew Ringnalda Spring 2022 Science

Description:Astronomy might be considered the first science. Charting the movements of the stars and planets was one of man’s earliest "scientific" endeavors. We will be using Dr. Sarah Salviander’s Astronomy and Astrophysics materials. This class uses an online text that can be found at https://sixdayscience.com/curriculum/textbooks/. Students will need to purchase the Activity & Lab Book and the Exam Book to comply with the course’s user agreement. Further information will be sent after registration. We’ll be using the course Biblical Supplement along with the regular course materials to demonstrate that astronomy and Biblical teaching are not in conflict. This is a full-year course intended to satisfy a student’s high school science credit requirements. A student should have familiarity with algebra, and we will review math concepts as necessary. Requires Astronomy and Astrophysics Lab and Activities e-book, Astronomy and Astrophysics Test Book. Some labs will require nighttime sky viewing. Prerequisite: Algebra Homework: 5+ hours/week, some labs will require nighttime sky viewing
