Ballet 2B Ages 12yrs-16yrs Kehler, Alexa Spring 2022 Dance

Description:PREREQUISITE - This class will be taken after Ballet 2A or 1B is completed successfully and teacher agrees student is ready to move forward, or by audition.   Barre Skills – All basic barre positions and steps but adding in port a bras and by the end of the year – releves.    Center Floor - Chasse, pique, single pirouette working towards double in fifth, arabesque, chasse sote, glissade, echappe, balance, assamble, changment, chasse tour jete, begin learning pique turns, and Pas de bouree ́. Ballet attire is required to attend class (pink tights, leotard, and ballet slippers) as well as hair pulled back in a bun. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. During our fall semester dancers will be practicing technique, form, posture and steps in combination. Students in this class will be performing in our wonderful Spring Dance Show that is focused on the life of Christ. This class will be performing in the Spring Dance Shows the week of May 16-22, final dates TBD. Details will be provided in full at our mandatory parent meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday, February 28th. (We are adjusting some things that should enable students to invite more family and friends to enjoy the event. We are considering all young student and level one classes to be split among the performances, but also to offer more performances that will allow better viewing opportunities and parking.) Parental attendance to this meeting is mandatory in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer’s performance. Please read the updated class syllabus that is pinned to your class channel. Students taking multiple classes (or siblings) receive 25% off their second class taken with the same instructor. Fees may be paid monthly or by semester. Costume fees for the Spring Show are due at Spring registration. (Estimated $25 to rent.) Wear clothes and shoes easy to dance in. Students are encouraged to stretch and practice what they learn in class at home a few minutes each day.

Description:This class is for those ballet students who have completed Ballet 2A or B. We will be working on barre work, harder floor combinations and more difficult turns. My goal is to have them build strength and stamina and be able to dance consistently twice a week in class. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. Students in this class will be performing in our wonderful Spring Dance Show that is focused on the life of Christ. Description:This class is for those students who have completed ballet 3. We will be focusing on technique and adding in pointe shoe work. Please get fitted for pointe shoes over the summer and be ready with them the first week. We will work on them a little bit during each class and then continue with normal barre and floor work. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. Anatomy & Physiology Ages 15yrs-18yrs Ringnalda, Andrew Spring 2022 Science

Description:High school students who have completed basic biology and/or who have any interest at all in any type of health-care career will be ahead of the game by joining us for Anatomy & Physiology. We will use Apologia’s Advanced Biology for our text. Students will also need an anatomy coloring book (they use these in universities and medical schools). We will be using the Anatomy Coloring Book, 4th edition, by Wynn Kapit. Students will also need a set of quality colored pencils. Class time will be spent reviewing anatomy and systems and performing various physiology labs. More information will be sent regarding texts and materials after registration. This is a full-year course intended to satisfy a student’s high school science credit requirements. Bring colored pencils. Homework: 5+ hours/week

Description:This class is intended for high-school students who need to begin earning lab science credits. We will be using the Apologia Biology, 3rd Edition text. Apologia courses are designed to be self-teaching, so students should be prepared to spend at least an hour each day studying the material. We will perform the labs from the text, with two weeks being allotted for each module. This is a full-year course intended to satisfy a student’s high school science credit requirements. Description:This class is intended for middle- to early high-school aged students who are beginning a formal study of the sciences or continuing an introduction to general scientific concepts before diving in to high school biology or chemistry. Apologia texts are designed for self-teaching, so students should expect to spend about an hour each day working through the textbook material. This class constitutes the lab component for Physical Science. We will perform the labs from the text, with two weeks being allotted for each module. This is a full-year science class. Astronomy Ages 15yrs-18yrs Ringnalda, Andrew Spring 2022 Science

Description:Astronomy might be considered the first science. Charting the movements of the stars and planets was one of man’s earliest "scientific" endeavors. We will be using Dr. Sarah Salviander’s Astronomy and Astrophysics materials. This class uses an online text that can be found at https://sixdayscience.com/curriculum/textbooks/. Students will need to purchase the Activity & Lab Book and the Exam Book to comply with the course’s user agreement. Further information will be sent after registration. We’ll be using the course Biblical Supplement along with the regular course materials to demonstrate that astronomy and Biblical teaching are not in conflict. This is a full-year course intended to satisfy a student’s high school science credit requirements. A student should have familiarity with algebra, and we will review math concepts as necessary. Requires Astronomy and Astrophysics Lab and Activities e-book, Astronomy and Astrophysics Test Book. Some labs will require nighttime sky viewing. Description:Join us as we learn about world geography. Lego Design Challenge Ages 13yrs-18yrs Ringnalda, Andrew Spring 2022 Science

Description:Are you a Lego Maniac? Do you have experience building with Lego Technic? Join us this fall to have your Lego design and building skills challenged to the max with a series of increasingly difficult projects. Students will work in groups for a variety of projects: Cross-the-Gap, Bucket-ball, Sumo-bots, Mechanical Orangutan, Cat-Blaster, and more! NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FREE BUILD CLASS! Students are expected to be fully engaged in the projects and helping solve each problem as a team member. Experience building with Lego Technic is helpful but not an absolute requirement. Experience with Lego Technic is advantageous but not prerequisite.

Zoo Keepers Ages 10yrs-15yrs Neal, Amarra Spring 2022 Science

Description:Zoo Keepers is a great opportunity to learn all about the animals at the Firmly Planted Homeschool Resources Center! Each week we will learn all about one of these animals and what makes them unique. Every student will create their own field guide with amazing facts about these creatures and learn hands-on how to care for them. Students in this class will be eligible to become a part of the Critter Club team and share in the responsibility of caring for our animal friends. Animals will be handled in this class, and proper hand washing and safety precautions will be required. All students will be required to bring a thee ringed binder, page protectors, and a pen or pencil.
