Travel the World through Music, and Dance! World Cultures and Historical Times will come alive through traditional music, dancing, singing games, and instruments. Each week, a new country will be explored while students learn simple, exciting folk dances, and wear colorful costumes. Students will experience the traditions and celebrations of that week's country through this unique and creative class! Students will also get their Adventure Passport stamped from that week’s country! Performance opportunities available!
In this creative drama class, favorite children’s stories, fairytales, and folktales from around the world come to life through theatre games, creative movement, improvisation, and story play. Costumes, props, and music help encourage children’s imagination.
Fairytale Theatre is a non-performance focused program that introduces children to the magic of stories, movement and theatre. Each week a new story is presented as inspiration for creativity!

Fairytales and Tutus is a creative ballet class for children, incorporating favorite children’s stories, enchanting costumes, colorful props, and the magic of make-believe! Ballet Attire: Leotard, tights, and ballet shoes. Hair should be secured off the face and neck in either a bun or a ponytail Hair must be secured on the face and neck either in a bun or ponytail.
Each week, a new story will come to life though ballet instruction, creative movement, dancing games, colorful costumes, and plenty of imagination! Children will learn ballet basics and incorporate that technique as a character in our weekly story!
Dancers will walk gracefully through a castle, use balance while leaping over a river, and practice coordination while skipping through the forest.

Have you ever wanted to learn some cool moves and to dance with a fun group? Then join us as we groove to contemporary Christian hip hop music while learning a mix of hip hop and jazz dance. Dance moves will always be conservative and may include props, tumbling, and/or special light effects. Students should come to class wearing shoes and clothes easy to dance in. Jazz shoes may be worn but are not necessary. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year.
Requirements:
Some previous dance experience is recommended but not required.
Parents are required to view and sign the dance department syllabus available at: https://fphrc.groupzu.com/page/view/dance and attend a Mandatory Parent Meeting on September 19th at 7pm. The Christmas Dance show will require minimal parent involvement. Christmas Dance Show Dress Rehearsal: 12/8; Christmas Dance Show Performances: 12/9 @6pm, 12/10 @1:30pm, and 12/10 @6:30pm (Child and Youth level dance classes will each be performing in only one show). The Spring Dance show will require significant parent involvement. Spring Dance Show Dress Rehearsal and Performances will be the week of 5/16-5/20. Wednesday - Dance Studio A - 116: 4:00 pm - 4:50 pm
Description:
In this class students will have the opportunity to enjoy more hip hop and jazz with challenging and fun choreography and props. Students should come to class wearing jazz shoes and clothes easy to dance in. Students may do some tumbling and/ or flag twirling depending on their interest. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year.
Requirements:
Students must have taken at least two years of hip hop or jazz dance experience or have teacher approval.

Wednesday - Dance Studio A - 116: 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm
Description:
In this class we will be combining our Level 1 and 2 students. Students will enjoy dancing with expression and artistry, using differing emotions and styles of music. Previous dance experience is required. Students need to have taken a class such as ballet, tap or hip hop jazz for at least one year. Student’s basic dance skills will be strengthened and they will be stretched to explore dance as an art and means of communicating ideas. We will be dancing with props including scarves and/or ribbons. Students should wear loose-fitting clothes, ballet, jazz, or lyrical shoes. Students are encouraged to take a strength and conditioning class as well. We recommend Ballet Strength and Technique, Ladies Cardio, Weights, Fun, and Done, or a Teen Fitness class.
Requirements:
Level 1 requires at least one year of dance class; Level 2 requires an additional year of Lyrical class.

Students will build on their artistic skills and emotion that they learned in previous lyrical classes. Student’s dance skills will be strengthened as they will continue to explore dance as an art and means of communicating ideas. We will be dancing with props such as long skirts, sheets of fabric, ribbons and scarves. Level three students will get opportunities to explore working on their own choreography as well as on a shadow dance project. Students should wear loose-fitting clothes, ballet, jazz, or lyrical shoes. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. Students are encouraged to take a strength and conditioning class as well. We recommend Ballet Strength and Technique, Ladies Cardio, Weights, Fun, and Done, or a Teen Fitness class.
