Description:Welcome! I look forward to the opportunity of sharing my love of music with your student ages 5-14. I've been playing piano for 9 years, teaching piano lessons at Firmly Planted for 3 years, and am currently majoring in music at Portland Bible College. Piano lessons will be held at the Center on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays between 1-5pm. As a fun way to end the year, all students are welcome to participate in and invite their families to an end of year piano recital I have each year for all my students. This is really an enjoyable time for the students to show what they've learned and for their families to get to watch them perform!

Description:This is a CORE class that meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays for the full year. Parents are required to attend the mandatory Core Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 24th at 2pm, August 24th at 6pm, September 7th at 2pm, or September 7th at 6pm. This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of Pre-calculus/Trigonometry and its underlying concepts using the Math-U-See system. The curriculum will include both theory and application. This course will be appropriate for anyone who has successfully completed Algebra 2, and has a solid grasp of exponents, polynomials, variables, equations, and conic sections. Students taking the Pre-calculus course will learn the following skills: trigonometry; radians and polar coordinates; vectors, functions, and composites; logarithms; arithmetic and geometric series.
Requirements:Students must have the Math-U-See Student Pack for Pre-calculus. This comes with the workbook and test booklet, and is available for purchase online at: https://www.christianbook.com/math-u-see-precalculus-student-pack/pd/511141. In addition, a pad of graph paper, pencil(s) with eraser, a straightedge or ruler, a protractor, and a non-graphing scientific calculator are required. Parents must sign each page of the lesson tests, which are due each Monday. Parents must also sign each page of the four unit tests, which are due on scheduled Mondays throughout the year.

Ballet 1 Child B Ages 5yrs-7yrs Neidlinger, Aylah Spring 2024 Dance

Description:Enter our ballet program with this basic ballet class. In this class, students will be taught the basics of ballet, how to follow instructions, ballet etiquette, and dancing with a group. We look forward to enjoying the basics of ballet through barre work, stretching, and floor exercises. Students are encouraged to stretch and practice what they learn in class at home a few minutes each day. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. Ballet attire is required to attend class (pink tights, leotard, and ballet slippers) as well as hair pulled back in a bun. Students will be performing in a Winter Showcase on January 19th as well as the Spring Dance Show in May (16th-19th). Description:The purpose of this Logic course is to enable students to recognize logical fallacies and to present powerful, carefully reasoned presentations. We will use Dr. Jason Lisle’s “Introduction to Logic” textbook and course materials to help students build a strong foundation for thinking and approaching issues. It is a year long course covering one chapter of the textbook each week. The course will be presented from a Biblical worldview and students will learn how to use sound reasoned arguments to defend Christian Faith.
Requirements:Students will need their own copy of "Introduction to Logic" by Dr. Jason Lisle. Parents will need to get a copy of the "Teacher Guide - Introduction to Logic by Dr. Jason Lisle." Both publications are available from Amazon.com or masterbooks.com. Students please bring a water bottle, a light snack, several sharpened pencils, a few ball point pens, and 50-100 sheets of college lined binder paper. I will provide a 3-Ring binder for holding handouts and notes.

Description:Learn the basics of html, css, and javascript while completing engaging coding missions! Over the course of the semester, students will develop their own website, app, and game, all while building proficiency in three of the most essential programming languages. This is an introductory coding course, no prior coding experience is necessary. Materials fee covers the required book and flash drive.

Description:This is a CORE class that meets twice a week for the full year. This course will immerse students in English-language literature by reading and analyzing novels, poetry, short stories, and plays. The emphasis will be reading comprehension, understanding literary types and devices, and interpreting literature. Students will be thinking and writing about what they read. This course will be appropriate for anyone in high school level English. This is a year-long course (32 weeks) that meets twice a week, and it will count for a full year English credit. Students taking this English course will learn the following skills: reading literature for understanding; interpreting literature as written; distinguishing different types of literature; communicating with others; critical thinking about literature. Each unit of literature will include a week when students make presentations on what they have read and learned. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend those days! More information will be provided in Slack at that time. NOTE: Since plays can be easier to watch than read, we will spend the first Monday watching the first ~45 minutes from a movie adaptation of each play. This is designed to assist student engagement as they read through the plays. Description:This is a CORE class that meets twice a week for the full year. CORE classes have greater expectations of students, parents, and teachers. Parents are required to attend the mandatory CORE Classes Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 27th at 6:45pm or August 29th at 2:45pm. Welcome to a high school level Spanish program. We will spend the entire year learning the basics of the Spanish language through lessons, readings, writing and conversations. This is a beginning level class for any high schooler who has not had any Spanish language learning and would like to receive a high school language credit. This class will meet 2x a week and there will be 3-5 hours of required homework on top of class time.
Requirements:In order to fully grasp the language in a shorter amount of class time, the homework will be mandatory to help cement the ideas and further the language learning. Students will be expected to participate in class and stay on top of homework. If more then two homework assignments are missed, student may be dropped from the class without refund. Quizzes and tests will also be a regular occurrence within the class. Students should be able to study on their own, take homework seriously and put in effort while in class. Required texts: Abeka Spanish 1 from the Spanish Language Arts Series. $63.90 This is the NEW and improved book - please make sure you don't order the old version. Spanish 1 Oral Fluency Exercises. $26.40 These books can be found on Christianbook. com or the Abeka website itself. Your student will also be required to bring a 3 ring binder, notebook paper, pencils and 3x5 cards to class.

Junior Art Apprentices

Description:This is a year-long studio art class for children going into grades K-3. Students will meet weekly with Miss Lucinda during both Fall & Spring Semesters to learn basic skills and techniques in drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media. The teacher will demonstrate while the class follows along and imitates - just as the masters and apprentices of long ago -- although there will be plenty of time for individual creativity. Students will be introduced to master artists from various historical periods and the Seven Elements of Art. This class is a good fit for children who love hands-on projects and can also listen well and follow instructions.
