Schedule:
Description:The game of Chess is 1500 years old and remains one of the most popular strategy games of all time. It is played in many places by all ages, all over the world. If this isn’t already exciting, it is also important to note that chess improves memory skills, social skills, perspective, creativity, and critical thinking. The Basics of Chess class will emphasize all of these skills plus teach healthy competition. The class is designed for the student who is just learning chess or has a basic idea and wants to improve skills. The board, set up, pieces, and strategies will be taught along with some healthy and fair competition. Material fees will cover student's personal chess board and book. This class is probably not for your student if…. your student is already very good at chess your student is extremely competitive (sometimes students get upset losing, but if this is a consistent behavior the class will not be a good fit) your student cannot sit still through a board game your student is extremely talkative
