Description:
Welcome! I'm Mariah Connor, I'm 20 years old and graduated from Firmly Planted in 2021. I look forward to the opportunity of sharing my love of music with your students ages 5-14. I've been playing piano for 10 years and teaching piano lessons at Firmly Planted for 4 years. I recently graduated from Portland Bible College with an Associate in Church Music. Piano lessons are 30 minutes long and will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10-3pm. Students will learn a variety of songs, theory, sight reading, playing by ear and worship songs.
As a fun way to end the year, all students are welcome to participate in and invite their families to an end of year piano recital. This is really an enjoyable time for the students to show what they've learned and for their families to get to watch them perform!
Hi! My name is Natalie Schoenborn. I am a violist who studied violin for 10 years before deciding to focus on viola. In other words - I play two instruments but viola is the one I most enjoy performing! I have a Bachelor of Music degree with a double major in Viola Performance and Music Education and have taught both violin and viola lessons for a number of years. I enjoy teaching a wide range of ages and skill levels and aim to meet each of my students where they are to help them reach their goals! No previous musical experience is required for these lessons, though I do teach intermediate and advanced players as well. Please feel free to reach out to me either on Slack or via email (ngschoenborn@gmail.com) if you have any questions about lessons. The cost is $30 per half hour lesson each week or $50 per full hour lesson (due before the start of each lesson). Lessons are individually scheduled with the teacher.
Requirements:
The student must own or be able to rent a violin or viola (please contact the teacher for recommendations if unsure). This instrument must at least be basically maintained (4 strings installed, a working bow, etc.) and regularly tuned at home by the student or parent. - The student must bring sheet music or book(s) to lesson every time and is responsible for purchasing these materials, as needed (the teacher will provide handouts, scale fingerings, etc. but will not provide books and published pieces of music). As a private lesson teacher, I am open to working based on each individual student's interest or out of a book the student has previously used. However, if the student is just beginning my default will be to use Essential Elements Book 1. - The student must either (1) consistently bring a paper notebook to lessons (this is for the teacher or student to take notes) or (2) commit to regularly logging onto a Google Doc to reference the teacher's notes during daily practice time. - Regular, consistent practice is expected (minimum 4-6 days per week). Practice time varies according to the age/level of the student (and the amount of progress desired!). 15 minutes per day for a beginner just starting out is fine, but 30 or more minutes a day is required for all other skill levels. The teacher may request that a practice journal be kept. - If the student is late for a lesson or there is a no-show (missed lesson without communication before the day of the lesson, except in case of dire emergency or unpredictable illness), the cost of the lesson will still be charged and no make-up lesson time will be given.
PRIVATE LESSONS - Voice. Improve singing and musicianship. Learn how to use your voice in a healthy way. Learn how to prepare for auditions.
Book 1 Lesson $80 / Book 10 Lessons $725 / Book 5 Lessons $375 - Lessons are 1hr
NOTE: Class Fee section states price per lesson
Requirements:
Bring music you are currently working on or want to work on. Plan to practice 30 minutes each day.
My name is Sonia Brown and I've been coaching volleyball skills at the Resource Center for about 3 years. I started to play volleyball when I was 9 years old, and I played Club Volleyball up to Highschool level and College Volleyball after that. I also coached the College Girls Volleyball Team and coached volleyball skills lessons for future coaches at University of West, Timisoara, Romania.
If you have a kid who wants to become better at setting/hitting or get better at defense on the court I can help them. I was a setter myself and a right side hitter. I love teaching/coaching volleyball and I'm looking forward to meet your kid.
I teach private piano lessons Levels 1-6, seeking to develop students’ piano playing skills and love for music in a nurturing environment. I am a graduate of Prairie Bible College and Pensacola Christian College, have a Level 10 Piano Certificate from Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), and have 35 years’ experience, including classical and church music. Using Faber Piano Adventures as the basic curriculum, which includes a variety of musical styles, I introduce beginning students to keyboard topography, note reading, rhythms and finger technique, using fun pieces and duets with teacher. After advancing through the intermediate level, I channel students to Keith Snell’s Piano Repertoire series. A PARENT IS REQUIRED TO BE PRESENT AND OBSERVE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN 10 AND UNDER AND TO PROVIDE GUIDANCE DURING HOME PRACTICE TIME
Requires Faber Piano Adventures Method, Technique and Performance books according to appropriate level. 30 minutes for Levels 1-3, 45 minutes for Levels 4 and up. $90 per month for 30 minute lesson, $120 per month for 45 minute lesson. Violin lessons also available.
Greetings! My name is Summer St. John, I’m 21 years old and have been learning American Sign Language for nine years while teaching classes and private lessons. I am very passionate about ASL and investing in the Deaf community in general.
I also encourage parents to learn and teach their kids at home!
