My name is Sonia Brown and I've been coaching volleyball skills at the Resource Center for about 3 years. I started to play volleyball when I was 9 years old, and I played Club Volleyball up to Highschool level and College Volleyball after that. I also coached the College Girls Volleyball Team and coached volleyball skills lessons for future coaches at University of West, Timisoara, Romania.
If you have a kid who wants to become better at setting/hitting or get better at defense on the court I can help them. I was a setter myself and a right side hitter. I love teaching/coaching volleyball and I'm looking forward to meet your kid.
Chess is great for improving a young person’s concentration and strategic thinking. Educational research has shown that students who learn chess have improved their math abilities, and their general academic performance. Chess Tutoring Beginner will be a 1 hour session each week at FPHRC. This will include playing time and instruction. Our goals for students in the Beginner Tutoring are to learn how to play chess, to learn the principles of using the pieces, openings, strategies, tactics, and how to help students reach their potential as chess players and Christian young people. Every session will include a motivational Chess “Life Lesson” as we discuss what God wants us to learn from life and playing chess.
We are thankful to God for the success of the chess program at FPHRC. We have won first place, and third place as a team at chess tournament competitions. This will be Mr. Snyder's fifth semester at FPHRC. He has a Masters in Teaching from WSUV. He has been a public and private school teacher for the last 20 years. Before that he was an advertising manager, graphic designer, and computer technician. He is currently a professional Christian artist. He enjoys Bible Study, chess, reading, swimming, and hiking. He is a widower with an adult son and daughter. Parents: Please try to be available to volunteer for the tournaments we have each school year. God has blessed us with this building, and many hard working families, but we need more help. Please contact Tom Snyder 360-721-1232 or one of our chess tournament team for more information.

I teach private piano lessons Levels 1-6, seeking to develop students’ piano playing skills and love for music in a nurturing environment. I am a graduate of Prairie Bible College and Pensacola Christian College, have a Level 10 Piano Certificate from Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), and have 35 years’ experience, including classical and church music. Using Faber Piano Adventures as the basic curriculum, which includes a variety of musical styles, I introduce beginning students to keyboard topography, note reading, rhythms and finger technique, using fun pieces and duets with teacher. After advancing through the intermediate level, I channel students to Keith Snell’s Piano Repertoire series. A PARENT IS REQUIRED TO BE PRESENT AND OBSERVE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN 10 AND UNDER AND TO PROVIDE GUIDANCE DURING HOME PRACTICE TIME
Requires Faber Piano Adventures Method, Technique and Performance books according to appropriate level. 30 minutes for Levels 1-3, 45 minutes for Levels 4 and up. $90 per month for 30 minute lesson, $120 per month for 45 minute lesson. Violin lessons also available.
