Description:Добро Пожаловать! (Dobro Pozhalovat' )! - WELCOME :) This course is for anyone who is INTERESTED in learning Russian language in a fun and simple way! Students will learn and practice the basics of Russian language such as greetings, simple conversation, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, the alphabet, Bible verses and MORE! The curriculum is designed to keep early learners ENGAGED and fall in LOVE with a new language. Students will learn new vocabulary each week. The instructor will provide printouts for each lesson to help students remember new words. Phonetic transcription (using English letters) of the Russian words will be provided for students. There will be some reading and writing practice in each class. Chanting, rhyming, singing, call-and-response, and Montessori inspired activities will also be used to enhance the learning experience. Students will interact with the instructor and their classmates throughout the lesson to reinforce their learning. The instructor of this class is a native Russian speaker who desires to make learning Russian Language an enjoyable, fun and productive experience!
Requirements:This class is perfect for students (ages 6-10) who are INTERESTED in learning Russian language NO previous experience is needed

Description:Добро пожаловать! Dobro Pozhalovat'! Welcome! :) This class is for anyone who is interested in learning Russian language from the beginning! No previous experience is necessary! Students will learn and practice the basics of Russian language such as greetings, self introductions, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, alphabet, simple conversations and more! The curriculum is designed to keep early learners engaged and learn Russian in the fastest, easiest, and most fun way. Each student will have their own binder where they will keep the printouts for each lesson. Phonetic transcription (using English letters) of new words will be provided along with QR code links to the YouTube videos, which will help students with pronunciation and offer additional practice. Chanting, rhyming, singing, call-and-response, and Montessori inspired activities will also be used to enhance the learning experience. Students will interact with the instructor and their classmates throughout each lesson to reinforce their learning. Five minutes of each class will be dedicated to Russian culture show & tell, where students will learn about Russian culture through varied objects brought by the teacher and students. The instructor of this class is a native Russian speaker who would like to create an unforgettable learning experience for her students and lay the foundation to further language learning and deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Description:Добро пожаловать! Dobro Pozhalovat '! Welcome! :) This class is a continuation of Russian for Beginners series. In this class, Russian Language Learners will continue learning the basics OF Russian language by adding more and more new words each week to increase their vocabulary such as colors, pets, animals, food, clothes, counting to 20 and more. Each student will have their own binder where they will keep the printouts for each lesson. Phonetic transcription (using English letters) of new words will be provided along with the QR code links to YouTube videos, which will help students with pronunciation and offer additional practice. Chanting, rhyming, singing, call-and-response, and Montessori inspired activities will also be used to enhance the learning experience. Students will interact with the instructor and their classmates throughout each lesson to reinforce their learning. Also, students will continue learning about the Russian culture throughout this course. The instructor of this class is a native Russian speaker who would like to create an unforgettable learning experience for her students and lay the foundation to further language learning and deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Requirements:All students who took Russian for Beginners 1 are invited to join this class. Also, any other children who have been exposed to the Russian language and/or desire to deepen their Russian language knowledge can join this class.

Description:Добро Пожаловать! (Dobro Pozhalovat'!) Welcome! :) This class is for anyone who is interested in developing an appreciation for Russian culture and traditions or would like to build a connection with their own heritage if they came from Russian or Slavic backgrounds. The goal of this class is to teach students the basic Russian language and culture through varied interactive activities. The curriculum is designed to keep young learners engaged. Each lesson will be structured in the form of alternating blocks where we will be focusing on introducing basic Russian vocabulary, exploring traditional Russian and Slavic folktales and songs, and engaging in traditional Russian and Slavic crafts and activities. Each student will have their own binder where they will keep all of their beautiful work as a memory keeper. The instructor of this class is a native Russian speaker who would like to share the love of Jesus, Russian language & Slavic culture by creating an unforgettable learning experience for her students and laying the foundation to further language learning and cultural exploration.
Requirements:This class is designed for ages 5-7. Four year old students can join (with teacher's permission) this class if they can cooperate and follow instructions.

Description:I hope you are curious, because in this class we will discover a lot about God’s creation. Our topics for this year will be creation, the universe (stars, planets, rockets), Earth, rocks & minerals, weather, the plant kingdom, the animal kingdom, the human body and some physics, chemistry and dinosaur fun. Kids will build interactive science notebooks and learn memory songs using "Considering God’s Creation" for our main text. Each lesson will include a variety of crafts & activities. Kids will use the scientific method for our experiments. We will also do biographies of godly scientists. “I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.” - George Washington Carver. Join me as we share this year-long class together to listen to God speak about His creation.
Requirements:Kids do not need to be proficient readers/writers for this class. Students should be ready to write a few words each week (they can trace or copy from the board). Students will be encouraged to follow 3-step directions, work independently, ask for help if needed, take turns, and show kindness and respect to the teacher and fellow classmates. About once a month I may have a take-home assignment for the kids to do and bring back. Kids will keep an additional science notebook at home for optional Charlotte Mason-style nature studies during the week.

Description:This class will be a gentle introduction to the first 1-2 chapters of most high school science courses. We will focus on unit conversions, calculator skills, graphing, the metric system, the scientific method, scientific notation, and measuring. There will be a heavy emphasis on study skills such as: taking notes in class, test taking strategies, following directions, and gleaning appropriate information from word problems.

Description:This course will introduce students (ages 13-18) to computer programming using the Scratch language, which was designed in 2007 by MIT to teach fundamental programming concepts to young people. The curriculum will focus on concepts for designing, programming, and developing a video game to help maintain student engagement, retention, and interest, but the skills learned apply to any kind of computer programming. The course will also include a presentation, as each student must “pitch” his game idea to an audience during the final week. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend those days! More information will be provided in Slack at that time. This is a one semester course (16 weeks) that meets once a week. If students are not able to bring a laptop to class, additional time at the resource center may be required for them to use the FPHRC computer lab. Students taking the Computer Programming Using Scratch course will learn: fundamental programming concepts, such as loops, variables, and conditionals; different areas of computer programming, including graphics, audio, and logic; understanding user interactions, interfaces, and events; formally defining and designing a computer program
Requirements:Students must have the “Scratch Coding for Beginners” book, which can be purchased on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMLQ5Z2D . In addition, students must bring a laptop or tablet on which the Scratch app will be installed. (We will work to accommodate students who do not have access to a laptop or tablet in the FPHRC computer lab. This may require extra time in the lab so the student can complete homework outside of scheduled classroom time.) In addition, a notebook and pencil(s) for taking notes are required.
