Description:Whip out your micron pens for a black and white sketch that will look like you’ve been drawing for ages. Unlike graphite pencils which can look smudgy and gray, pens deliver clean lines. We’ll learn different techniques of drawing with a pen including cross hatching, pointillism, and more! Inktober happens in October where each day you have word prompts to draw from using your pens. We’ll be participating in that and seeing what each person comes up with daily. The other months will be filled with exercises, fun patterns to draw, and a big project toward the end of the semester. Homework: 30 minutes a week

Description:Foundations in Personal Finance is a MUST class. Why? As parents, we work hard to prepare our children for life. Life is hard and challenging. One vital area of preparation is financial literacy for teens. This class will teach them to think, plan and prepare for real life issues such as work, saving, spending, giving, college careers, car buying, investing for the future, insurances, etc. This class emphasizes character development, which is vital for responsible, money management. It is also designed to promote teamwork between students and parents as the parents share their insight, wisdom, and life experiences on homework assignments. Do you want to equip (prepare) your son or daughter for a lifetime of successful money management that will lead to financial peace, less stress, more joy and hope, and improved relationships? Then this class is a MUST for your student!

Perspective Drawing Ages 10yrs-19yrs+ Snyder, Tom Fall 2024 Arts

Description:Perspective Drawing is a way of drawing that shows what things actually look like in the real world. This course will cover 1-4 point perspective and aerial perspective drawing. Students will learn how to scan their drawings into the computer for editing into compositions and coloration in Adobe Photoshop. This class is a good fit for students who desire to learn how to produce strong visual communication. Traditional drawing materials like paper and pencils will be provided.
Requirements:Please purchase the textbook for the course: Perspective Drawing Handbook by Joseph D'Amelio Come to class with reference material for your projects like computer printouts, library books. thumbnail sketches etc. Water bottles are recommended. Laptops and smartphones are permitted for reference and research during class. Mr. Snyder will provide paper, rulers, erasers, light boards, and other drawing materials.

In this class you will be introduced to some familiar and unfamiliar animals as we learn together what is required to care for a pet. We'll play games, make crafts, watch short video clips, and even interact with some furry (and not so furry) pets. Throughout the course we will be creating and collecting mini books and students will construct a lapbook of their own on the last day of class to take home. Students will also have the opportunity to "borrow" a hamster and practice for a week if pre-approved by the parent. Some pets we will discover besides cats & dogs include rodents, reptiles, insects, fish and birds.

Description:Take the mystery out of learning phonics & handwriting. This year-long class will use a multisensory/kinesthetic approach to introduce the short vowels sounds as your child begins to practice *reading & *writing CVC words (consonant/vowel/consonant, "mat"). Each week we will explore a new consonant letter for reading/phonics and proper letter formation, through the help of: puppets, songs, crafts, manipulatives, dress-up days, share days and snack days too. Each little detective will be going through Explode the Code- Book 1 (I will provide). We will also be using corresponding Bob Book readers and Learning Without Tears concepts for our handwriting instruction. Students will build a darling notebook of their projects and ETC pages to take home at the end of the year.
Requirements:*Each child develops at a different rate. This class will focus on a playful, yet structured approach to get your child excited about learning. Kids are NOT required to read or write to join in the fun. Students will be encouraged to follow 3-step directions, work independently, ask for help if needed, take turns and show kindness and respect to the teacher and fellow classmates.
