Chess private lessons and Math tutoring: Could your child benefit from individualized chess tutoring? Then this is for you.
BEGINNING CHESS PLAYERS – I will teach beginners how to play chess. They will learn the principles of using the pieces, chess openings, strategies, tactics, and how to use chess as a tool to build relationships. INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS will learn how to annotate and analyze their games. They will also memorize a checklist to recite to themselves before each move. This will help them make smarter tactical decisions. ADVANCED CHESS STUDENTS may choose to do chess puzzles, work through chess books, watch chess videos by Grand Masters, or just play and have me comment on their moves. The minimum number of chess students per session that I will accept is two and the maximum is eight. Each tutoring session will be at least one hour, but may extend up to 20 minutes longer so students can complete a game or learn a new strategy. Tutoring sessions will never end early except by parent request. FEES: 1-3 students $30 per session 4-8 students $50 per session. If you are struggling financially, then we can adjust fees and work out a plan. I am available for tutoring sessions Monday through Friday around my teaching schedule and room availability. MATH: I am also available to tutor math from basic operations through algebra.
I’ve been tutoring students for over 20 years because I love helping students feel confident in a subject they originally struggled in. Students are to bring materials to each session for tutoring and I can make suggestions for curriculum best suited for each individual student. I tutor mainly in Math, Reading, Writing, Spelling, & Spanish, but can tutor in other subjects as well. I also work with special needs students and learned to work with these amazing kids by having a special needs son myself and helping him learn. My availability varies so message me to schedule a time, but it will definitely be within these hours: Mon-Fri 10am-5pm. I can accept up to 8 students per week, and my fee is $30 per each 1 hour session.
