This fun class for young learners will help bridge the gap between the Hearing and Deaf community and will give students a head start for future ASL classes which are offered here at FPHRC. Each week they will learn new signs like the alphabet, finger spelling, seasons and holidays, weather and animals and our final weeks we'll be signing to familiar worship songs! The class will have plenty of games to keep the learning fun and engaging!
Note: This class will be taught by a student teacher.
Requirements:
A notebook and writing instrument is recommended for writing down the words we're learning in each class but not required. I will provide a list of words after each class and post to our Slack channel.
Astronomy might be considered the first science. Charting the movements of the stars and planets was one of man’s earliest "scientific" endeavors.
We will be using Dr. Sarah Salviander’s Astronomy and Astrophysics materials. This class uses an online text that can be found at https://sixdayscience.com/curriculum/textbooks/. Students will need to purchase the Activity & Lab Book and the Exam Book to comply with the course’s user agreement. Further information will be sent after registration.
We’ll be using the course Biblical Supplement along with the regular course materials to demonstrate that astronomy and Biblical teaching are not in conflict.
This is a full-year course intended to satisfy a student’s high school science credit requirements. A student should have familiarity with algebra, and we will review math concepts as necessary.
Requires Astronomy and Astrophysics Lab and Activities e-book, Astronomy and Astrophysics Test Book. Some labs will require nighttime sky viewing. Prerequisite: Algebra
Homework: 5+ hours/week, some labs will require nighttime sky viewing

Your student will explore and learn about the sun, planets, asteroid belt, dwarf planets, the Kuiper belt galaxies, nebulae, and even black holes as they reveal the marvel and might of our loving Creator. Their awareness of the beauty of the universe and its Creator will expand as they expand their studies to the far reaches of what we can see out in space.
This course is designed to take students one step deeper in automotive maintenance skills than Basic Car Care. We will continue to learn about each of the major systems on a vehicle, how they operate, and how they are maintained. With more access to the shop area, we expect to do more hands on activities with approximately 50% classroom time and 50% shop time. The supply fee includes safety glasses and misc supplies. Taught by a 30+ year Cascadia Technical Academy Auto Tech Instructor.
Requirements:
Wearing of safety glasses while in the shop. Ability to follow directions, especially safety instructions and rules.
In this class we learn about automotive technology using the current projects that are available to us at the center. This includes the Mustang and the Suburban as well as other projects that may come up. We discuss the theory of operation for systems & projects that we take on for each vehicle. Over time, we will cover basic theory of operation, maintenance, and light repair of all major systems on a vehicle.
Requirements:
Ability to follow directions, especially safety rules. An interest in mechanical things and an eagerness to learn.

Are you ready for an adventure? Each day we will be learning about a new bird in depth with different classifications and habitats! We will work on our bird journals daily to further our knowlege by gluing information, drawing, and our daily bible verse we will discuss. We will do a special bird craft daily (for example making a pinecone bird feeder!). We will do a daily bird experiment (for example dissecting an owl pellet!). And we will make a fun bird snack for ourselves daily (for example edible bird nest!). If weather allows, we will have some outside time with bubbles, chalk, and coloring. Excited to explore Gods creations with you- let the adventure begin!
