In this beginner Russian class designed for high school students, we will work through an engaging, year-one Russian course that introduces students to the Cyrillic alphabet, phonetics, and foundational vocabulary and grammar. Through songs, repetition, and conversation practice, students will learn how to introduce themselves, count in Russian, and begin reading and speaking simple Russian with confidence.
Each week, we will also memorize Scripture in Russian, allowing students to not only learn the language but to hide God’s Word in their hearts in a new and meaningful way. Writing worksheets, reading practice, and speaking opportunities will help reinforce learning in a fun and structured environment.
🌍 But this class isn’t just about the language—we’ll explore the rich culture of Russia, including its history, traditions, holidays, and foods. Through cultural projects and food tasting days, students will gain a deeper understanding about the Russian people and how God is at work across the world.
My heart is that students will finish the year with a solid beginning in Russian and a greater love for God and His global Church through the study of language and culture.
