In this class we will learn how to solder safely, and how to care for and clean the soldering iron and equipment. We will learn what equipment is needed to solder, and how to properly use each piece of equipment. We will explore different techniques, types of solder, how to remove soldered devices on PC boards, and practice removing components from a PC Board. Students will build small practice projects to learn on and can advance to more difficult soldering projects as they improve. WEARING OF SAFETY GLASSES IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES WHEN SOLDERING.

Equal parts Bible study, music appreciation, and history, this class is a deep dive into 16 of the world's most influential hymns. Each week students will learn the historical and biblical context of the hymn, memorize the hymn's lyrics and tune, and participate in a Bible study about the hymn's doctrinal truths. Students will also have the opportunity to practice basic music theory with a tin whistle!
Requirements:
Students must bring their tin whistle (provided with the materials fee) and Bible to every class.
This Spanish class is for beginning level Spanish students. We will learn how to pronounce sounds, the present tense, and asking questions. My goal is that each student not only learns to speak the basics of the language but also learns to love it. We make it fun with games and activities and spend a good time practicing talking to each other.
Required materials: Por Todo El Mundo Spanish 1A book and Vocabulary manual
Homework: 5-10 hours/week
This is a CORE class that meets twice a week for the full year. CORE classes have greater expectations of students, parents, and teachers. Parents are required to attend the mandatory CORE Classes Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 27th at 6:45pm or August 29th at 2:45pm. Welcome to a high school level Spanish program. We will spend the entire year learning the basics of the Spanish language through lessons, readings, writing and conversations. This is a beginning level class for any high schooler who has not had any Spanish language learning and would like to receive a high school language credit. This class will meet 2x a week and there will be 3-5 hours of required homework on top of class time.
Requirements:
In order to fully grasp the language in a shorter amount of class time, the homework will be mandatory to help cement the ideas and further the language learning. Students will be expected to participate in class and stay on top of homework. If more then two homework assignments are missed, student may be dropped from the class without refund. Quizzes and tests will also be a regular occurrence within the class. Students should be able to study on their own, take homework seriously and put in effort while in class. Required texts: Abeka Spanish 1 from the Spanish Language Arts Series. $63.90 This is the NEW and improved book - please make sure you don't order the old version. Spanish 1 Oral Fluency Exercises. $26.40 These books can be found on Christianbook. com or the Abeka website itself.
