Description:
In this class you will continue to grow in your skill as a ballerina. We will cover more advanced movement in barre work, center, and technique. Students are encouraged to stretch and practice what they learn in class at home a few minutes each day. This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. Ballet attire is required to attend class (pink tights, leotard, and ballet slippers) as well as hair pulled back in a bun. Students will be performing in a Winter Showcase on January 19th as well as the Spring Dance Show in May (16th-19th). Passing Ballet 1 in evaluations or by audition. Parents are required to view and sign the dance department syllabus available at: https://fphrc.groupzu.com/page/view/dance and parents new to the dance department need to attend a Mandatory Parent Meeting on Monday, October 2nd at 7pm.
Come and increase your technique ability through this level 2 ballet class at the youth level. We will focus hard on our technique while preparing for our Spring performance. We will spend the beginning of class working on the barre with harder combinations, then move to stretching where we will focus on getting our splits, and then move to center and across the floor work. We will glorify God through our dance and learn how to increase our ballet technique! This is a yearlong class. This Class will be in the two performances of Show B for our Spring Dance Show “Moses and The God Who Delivers” (May 15th-18th). Each semester’s Admin fee includes the show costume rental fee.
Requirements:
You must have been completed and graduated from ballet 1 youth or child. Proper dance attire is required along with hair being pulled back and out of your face. Students must be able to follow directions and listen in class. Please also bring a water bottle and a happy attitude!

If your student is chosen, they will be required to participate in some extra Tuesday evening practices as well as signing up for the fall Nutcracker Character Class taught on Thursdays at 4pm. This Class will be in both Show A and B for our Nutcracker presentation (December 5th-8th), but only one show for the Spring Dance Show “Moses and The God Who Delivers” (May 15th-18th). Ballet 2A is a ballet class for 6-10 year olds and student have passed level Ballet 1a year 1 and 2. We will be stepping up the ballet instruction by adding in barre work and more difficult combinations. I look forward to helping your student become better at Ballet and work hard to achieve their goals! This is a year long class and students will be asked to commit to attending for the entire year. Students in this class will be performing in our wonderful Spring Dance Show that is focused on the life of Christ. This class will be performing in the Spring Dance Shows the week of May 16-22, final dates TBD. Details will be provided in full at our mandatory parent meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday, February 28th. (We are adjusting some things that should enable students to invite more family and friends to enjoy the event. We are considering all young student and level one classes to be split among the performances, but also to offer more performances that will allow better viewing opportunities and parking.) Parental attendance to this meeting is mandatory in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer’s performance. Please read the updated class syllabus that is pinned to your class channel. Students taking multiple classes (or siblings) receive 25% off their second class taken with the same instructor. Fees may be paid monthly or by semester. Costume fees for the Spring Show are due at Spring registration. (Estimated $25 to rent.) Wear clothes and shoes easy to dance in.
