Teen boys 12-19 years old - Coach Matt's goal is to develop champions in life through a structured program based on values, commitment, healthy habits, and skills development. The fundamentals of wrestling include basic skills, drills, and techniques in a fun and positive environment.
Wrestling is a unique sport because it teaches values that last a lifetime. Wrestling builds character, teaches kids how to overcome obstacles and failure, handle emotions, respect authority, a strong work ethic, discipline, resilience, accountability, and be a good teammate. Wrestling is more than a sport; wrestling is family. Our classes are dedicated to fostering these values in our youth and providing a family atmosphere where kids can thrive. This program is best defined as "wrestling meets youth group."
Wrestling shoes are not necessary. Please bring water and socks.
Most students are taught how to recognize words on a page. Few are taught how to understand, analyze, and learn from challenging books.
In The Art of Reading, students will learn practical skills for understanding and engaging challenging books. Drawing inspiration from Mortimer Adler's How to Read a Book, this course teaches students how to approach a text with confidence, identify its main ideas, ask meaningful questions, annotate effectively, trace arguments, and summarize what they have learned.
Using selections from authors such as C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, Plato, Augustine, George Orwell, and other influential writers, students will practice these skills while engaging real texts and real ideas. Class time will combine discussion of assigned readings with instruction in the habits and techniques of effective reading.
Students will learn that reading is not a passive activity but a conversation between reader and author. They will develop the ability to move beyond simply collecting information and toward genuine understanding.
The goal of this course is not merely to finish books, but to help students become better readers, thinkers, and lifelong learners. The skills developed in this class can be applied to theology, history, literature, philosophy, and virtually every other area of study.
As Proverbs 18:15 teaches, "The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out." This course is an invitation to cultivate the habits of attention, understanding, and thoughtful learning.
Requirements:
Students should come prepared with a pen or pencil, and a willingness to read, think, and participate in discussion. Students do not need prior experience with annotation or literary analysis, but they should be prepared to develop those skills throughout the course.
Because this course is built around discussion of assigned readings, students will be expected to complete weekly reading assignments before class and bring their annotated readings and notes with them. Reading assignments are designed to challenge students while remaining manageable and will focus on practicing specific reading skills rather than simply covering large amounts of material.
Students should come prepared to participate respectfully in discussion, ask questions, share observations, and engage thoughtfully with both the text and their classmates. The quality of class discussions depends heavily upon student preparation, making consistent reading and participation an important part of the course experience.
This course is designed for students who are willing to put in the effort required to become stronger readers, thinkers, and learners.
Slow stitching is a textile art. This is a mindful, creative and ancient practice of using needle and thread, ribbon, lace, buttons, paper, sequins, etc. to create art on fabric. It's a form of hand stitching that can involve a variety of techniques such as patchwork, embroidery and creating circles. This stitching differs from traditional stitching used for mending and making garments because the process is more important than the end result. But skills learned can be used for those things down the road. The goal is to be present and in the moment, listening to your creativity, and allowing your hands to flow across the fabric. This can be good for mental health, calming and focus.
This is a great class for both boys and girls to create art using recycled and untraditional mediums. Each child will get their own starter stitching kit to bring home once class is over. This will be a "go at your own pace" type of class. The students can take their time on one or multiple pieces over the 16 weeks.

Each child must be mature enough to follow directions and be very careful using sharp objects like scissors and needles.

This class will include a Pro Business-in-a-Box kit for each enrolled student, including all the materials they will need to not only start a business, but also teach decisions making, creativity and communication skills. Each week we will watch a 10-15 minute video and put to practice what we have learned. We may have community business owners come by during the semester to present their entrepreneur story and encourage the students on their journey. By the end of the semester, they should be making money with their business! I am also coordinating to do a student only market at the end of the semester, where The CEO Kid students (and other students at the center) can set up a booth to sell their product or promote their businesses. The Civil War was pivotal event in our nations history. From a new country developing its own place in the world after a revolution for independence to a country divided by ethics, politics, and economy, the civil war made an impact we still feel today. In this class we will be writing two opinion pieces along with one book response paper. We will be read Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane and parts of Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave by Frederick Douglass. Teacher will provide books for the students.
Requirements:
Must be willing to do the work in preparation for the class, meaning read the books assigned and completing assigned papers, in addition to engaging in class discussions and completing in class assignments such as battle maps and comparison charts.
The Color Lab is a hands-on, creative art class where students explore the exciting world of color theory through fun and engaging projects. Using a mix of techniques—including painting, origami, and printmaking—students will experiment with how color interacts, blends, and transforms artwork.
Students will learn how to thoughtfully plan and organize visually striking compositions while developing lifelong skills in color mixing, blending, and design. Each project encourages creativity, exploration, and confidence with color in a playful studio environment.
Welcome, daring girls! This class is based on the tips and tricks from the popular book, “The Daring Book For Girls”. (No boys allowed!) That means we’ll learn everything from history and language arts, to pocket knives and public speaking. This class is the ultimate knowledge builder; and with great knowledge, comes great responsibility. So we will also study God’s Word, answering questions most relevant to us today, how to handle them, and what God says about them.
Requirements:
For this adventure, students will require: - A backpack, satchel, or grocery bag to fill with the essential gear: Your Bible, a pocket knife or multitool, bandana, rope and twine, journal and pencil/pen, hair bands, bungee cords, a flashlight, compass, duct tape, a deck of cards, a good book, and most importantly, patience.
