This class focuses on growing friendships, play, love of stories, and Biblical lessons we can learn through it all. For example: Baby Wren and the Great Gift will teach kids that God has a special purpose for each of their lives. Petunia Beware teaches us that the grass may not actually be greener on the other side and how we can be thankful for what we have. The Night Gardener shows us the blessing of doing kind and beautiful things for others. Some books will teach the months of the year, seasons, and counting as well. We'll throw in some fun ones too, Dragons Love Tacos, Where the Wild Things Are, We Were Tired of Living in a House, and more! We will sing songs, do crafts and play games related to the books we read.
Equal parts science, history, math, and literature this class will use living books and hands-on projects to explore the famous scientists, philosophers, and mathematicians of the ancient world. The goal of this class is to foster a love for the STEM fields through outstanding storytelling. This year-long class covers ancient times and fall term includes discoveries from Pythagoras, Hippocrates, Plato, Aristotle, Euclid, Archimedes, and more. Students need not have a love of math or science to succeed in this class, but they should be eager to learn and ready to follow directions.

In this creative drama class, favorite children’s stories, fairytales, and folktales from around the world come to life through theatre games, creative movement, improvisation, and story play. Costumes, props, and music help encourage children’s imagination.
Fairytale Theatre is a non-performance focused program that introduces children to the magic of stories, movement and theatre. Each week a new story is presented as inspiration for creativity!
Each week, we’ll gather to read a heartwarming story from the G.L. Charles with Jesus series, where little ones learn about kindness, love, and friendship through simple, faith-filled lessons. After storytime, we’ll bring the story to life with a fun hands-on art craft. This class combines gentle learning, and creative play, as we explore what it means to walk with Jesus every day!
Learn how structural engineers use physics, knowledge of the properties of building materials, and geometric shapes to design structures with sufficient strength and stability. Using modular building pieces, we will learn the basics of structural engineering through model-building experiments. Each model demonstrates a basic principle of mechanical physics or structural engineering in a hands-on way. We will start out with small models that demonstrate how structural elements can be attached together to maximize the strength of a structure for a fixed amount of material used. Learn about basic structural elements including columns, beams, trusses, plates, arches, shells, and catenary. Explore the forces acting on structural components including tension, compression, shear, and bending. Move onto building more complex models of trusses, roofs, and small buildings. Experiment with different types of bridge construction: a truss bridge, arch bridge, cantilever bridge, rope bridge, and suspension bridge. Finally, end with build models of towering skyscrapers.
Requirements:
Finger strength and dexterity to build with small plastic building pieces.
Students will meet weekly with Miss Lucinda to learn basic skills and techniques in drawing, painting, clay, and various other media. Along with learning to develop creativity, students will be introduced to master artists from multiple historical periods and the Seven Elements of Art. The class can be taken throughout the entire school year, if desired, or by the semester, and will not repeat the same material. The class is a good fit for children who love hands-on projects and can also listen well and follow instructions.
This is a year-long studio art class for children between the ages of 8 and 12. Students will meet weekly with Miss Lucinda during the Fall & Spring Semesters to learn basic skills and techniques in drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media. There will also be a fun Christmas project for gift-giving.
