This is a studio art class for children ages 9 through 12. Students will meet weekly with Miss Lucinda to learn basic skills and techniques in drawing, painting, clay, and various other media. There will also be a fun Christmas project for gift-giving. Along with learning to develop creativity, students will be introduced to master artists from various historical periods and the Seven Elements of Art. Please note that this class will be offered again in the Spring semester, featuring different artists and projects. The class can be taken throughout the entire school year, if desired, or by the semester. The class is a good fit for children who love hands-on projects and can also listen well and follow instructions.
This year-long studio class is for students who love art and would enjoy more time for projects. Some exposure to the Elements of Art would be helpful, but not required. Students will learn various techniques in drawing, painting, and printmaking. They will participate in group discussions about art and culture, meet guest artists, and participate in one field trip per semester.
In this class we will be studying the sweet side of science. It will be a hands on science class about sugar integrating chemistry, biology, and nutrition. We will learn sugar’s chemical structure, its role as an energy source in living organisms, chemical effects in baking, and its health implications. Please note, while this class will teach moderation of sugar consumption, we will be tasting many of our experiments in class; it’s just too hard not to. Please consider your students diet when enrolling.

JUL. 22-25 Firmly Planted IGNITE summer camps all start with 30 minutes of group chapel followed by 2 1/2 hours of specialty camps designed to ignite your student's faith. Cost includes a camp t-shirt. So many games to play! How do we choose? Here is a snapshot of some of my ideas. Our time will be spent each day with child lead games in a nurturing environment that will build coordination, agility, speed, strength, & teamwork. The typical favorites are dodgeball, basketball, pinball, capture the flag, spiderball, sharks, musical chairs, ultimate tag, and tug of war. Others will be designed with more summertime competitions. Some examples are water balloon launching, monkey in the middle with water balloons, balloon toss, fastest circuit time through an obstacle course, and partner relays. On the last day, I will make a treasure hunt with a cool surprise at the end. Squirt guns are great on a sunny day, along with the parachute filled with water balloons! Lots of water breaks and a snack time will be offered each day. Summer is my favorite time of year to play! I hope you can join us! Love, Ms. Kristin
Requirements:
Be ready to have lots of fun and friendly competitions with good sportsmanship. Bring a snack and a water bottle each day. Maybe a towel if the kids decide to get wet from water play.

Tales of Virtue
What makes someone truly great? How does a person become brave, faithful, and good?
In Tales of Virtue, students will enter the world of heroes—both biblical and historical—whose lives reveal the power of character. Through storytelling, discussion, and reflection, we’ll discover how courage is built through faith, how daily choices form lifelong habits, and how God shapes ordinary people for extraordinary purposes.
Each week begins with a captivating story: from Daniel, who prayed daily and served faithfully under foreign kings, to Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, who stood his ground at Gettysburg, to John Quincy Adams, who fought against slavery even when his nation refused to listen, followed by guided conversation that helps students see how the same virtues can take root in their own lives. As Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
This class is an invitation to admire what is noble, to practice what is good, and to begin forming the habits of a faithful life. Students will learn that true heroism is not found in fame or power, but in steadfast love, daily courage, and devotion to the truth.
Requirements:
Students should come with a spirit of curiosity and respect, ready to listen, think, and participate in meaningful conversations. Each week we will learn from the stories of real heroes who lived with courage, faith, and integrity.
Students will need to bring a notebook, along with a pen and pencil, for writing and reflection during class.
