Sometimes, students need a bit more focused attention in specific math areas. I’m available to tutor students in multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, and fractions. While I’m most familiar with Math-U-See, I can also assist with other curriculum. Please bring your math books and homework assignments, and let’s work together to improve your math skills.
This tutoring supports students from 4th–12th grade in mastering math skills from fractions through algebra and geometry. It is not a substitute for regular math classes.
My goal is to help and motivate students who are struggling with math, or work with talented students who want to get ahead in math. Instruction covers core topics such as fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, algebra, and geometry, with clear explanations and step-by-step practice. Real-world applications are included, such as business and contractor math—budgeting, measurements, area, volume, and project cost calculations. Our goal is to build both academic knowledge and practical problem-solving skills.
Reading Tutoring through the Roxie Reading Program: A brain based reading curriculum based on 20 years of study partnering with Harvard University. This model is helpful for poor readers, kinesthetic and dyslexic readers. Kids will be using large motor skills and movement to learn. This is brilliant for those who are athletic, artistic, or dyslexic. Anyone right brain driven will thrive in this program. Before starting the program each student will take an assessment test. This is a one time fee of $80. Students K-3rd grade will have two 30 minute sessions each week, at $20 a session. Students 3rd-Adult will have two 60 minute sessions each week, at $30 a session. I can take from 1-20 students each week and am available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-5pm.
With a varied background, I'm able to tutor students from K-College in all subjects except upper-level math and science. I have a B.A. in Christian Education, followed by further study in History and Spanish. I have a passion for writing instruction and earned a J.D. degree and then developed my own classical writing program. I especially enjoy working with students, sharing stories, and celebrating their "light bulb" moments. I homeschooled my own 8 kids and loved every moment of it.
I offer personal tutoring in a variety of areas that include:
• English Language Arts (Writing, etc.)
• Mathematics (Pre-algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry)
