Jesus said "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). How can we train our children to have Godly Christian Character that sets them apart from the world? During this class, students will learn about and develop Godly characteristics through Scripture, art, games, and character studies. Each week we will delve into and practice a different characteristic such as Honoring God, Respecting Others, Telling The Truth, and having Self-Control. Nothing is more important than being grounded in God's Word and letting His light shine!

CAP stands for Communication Arts Projects. Tom Snyder (writing this) leads lively discussions and works one-on-one with students. This is a year-long course that covers the basics of animation, how to draw people, perspective drawing, and more. I view Animation as a useful communication tool that can be mastered with some hard work. This animation class introduces students to the art of traditional, hand-drawn storyboarding and animation. Students learn the principles of motion, timing, squash and stretch, and storytelling while drawing frames by hand. We will use Wacom tablets with Pencil2D for animation. Students will create pencil-style animations that echo the methods of legendary Disney animators like Glen Keane (Little Mermaid, Tarzan, Lion King, Tangled etc.). We will use Paint.net for backgrounds and color work, Audacity adds voice and sound effects, and DaVinci Resolve brings everything together into finished movies. This course enables students to transform simple drawings into lively animated stories using these free, professional-quality, accessible software programs. As we study animation we will also learn about how to draw believable people, outside and inside perspective drawing, and how to draw landscape environments. Join the crew and get ready for adventure!
Requirements:
Textbook: The Animator's Workbook by Tony White. I have purchased four copies from Amazon so please call me before getting one. Used copies start about $8 including shipping. We will tear out and shred the second to the last page of this book due to inappropriate images.
I will bring in books on storyboarding, character design, perspective drawing, and color theory.
You might consider the purchase of a light board, an inexpensive (lenova, DELL) laptop computer and a document camera for home use.
I provide paper, pencils, pens, color pencils and pens, brush pens, 3-hole punch, light boards, and encouragement!
