Wednesday - Dance Studio A - 116: 11:00 am - 11:50 am
Description:
Creative movement for kids will encourage age appropriate movement that helps strengthen fine motor and gross motor skills. In this program, we will introduce the art of dance and music in a very fun, loving and professional environment. We will work on skills such as rhythm, coordination, self confidence, discipline and structure. In a addition we will also work on social skills like taking turns, making friends, teamwork and listening skills. We will use body actions to communicate an image (leaf falling) communicate a journey (seeds growing into plants reaching for the sun) or communicate feelings such as strength and joy. Both boys and girls enjoy these classes. All children benefit including those with communication, sensory, developmental or physical challenges. Please have your child in comfortable clothes to dance in and hair pulled off the face. Please have a water bottle labeled with your child's name along with a snack and restroom opportunity before class. Students in this class will be performing in our wonderful Spring Dance Show that is focused on the life of Christ. This class will be performing in the Spring Dance Shows the week of May 16-22, final dates TBD. Details will be provided in full at our mandatory parent meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday, February 28th. (We are adjusting some things that should enable students to invite more family and friends to enjoy the event. We are considering all young student and level one classes to be split among the performances, but also to offer more performances that will allow better viewing opportunities and parking.) Parental attendance to this meeting is mandatory in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer’s performance. Please read the updated class syllabus that is pinned to your class channel. Students taking multiple classes (or siblings) receive 25% off their second class taken with the same instructor. Fees may be paid monthly or by semester. Costume fees for the Spring Show are due at Spring registration. (Estimated $25 to rent.) Wear clothes and shoes easy to dance in. Students are encouraged to stretch and practice what they learn in class at home a few minutes each day.
Essentially, all writing is "creative" but this class will take a step away from the form and structure of academic writing to explore other forms of expression including poetry, short stories, music lyrics, etc. Creative Writing is an elective course in which students will explore various genres in order to discover strengths and preferences in their own writing. This course will be writing intensive as we will explore how to express our thoughts in various genres.
This course provides an introduction to the writing of poems, stories, plays, and creative non-fiction, with related readings. Students submit writing for class discussion with the aim of creating an original collection of creative work in several genres.
Requirements:
This class would be structured so as to be suitable for students in grades 7-12
Many young students find history boring and have a hard time remembering things they learned in history class, but it is so important to know our history so why not have fun with it? In this class, we will be learning about and reenacting communism under 4 different regimes and their effects on the world. We will learn about the USSR, China, Latin America, and North Korea. Students will be given a part and a script and will perform each event. My goal is to help students retain their knowledge of history and foster an interest in it as well. Let's learn history AND have fun!
Welcome to Critter Curiosity! In this class we will learn about and study a bunch of amazing creatures that God has created! Students will be encouraged to take notes as they have hands-on experience learning how to care for, feed, handle, and clean up after the critters.
