Description:
Join us as and have fun as we groove to contemporary Christian music and learn a mix of hip hop and jazz. Dance moves will always be conservative. Students should come to class wearing shoes and clothes easy to dance in. Jazz shoes may be worn but are not necessary. Dancers will have the opportunity to share a dance at our Winter Showcase (December 6th/7th) and our Spring Show. The Spring Show is scheduled for the weekend of May 20th and 21st at 6:00 PM, with more details to come at the mandatory parent meeting in the fall. Students taking multiple classes (or siblings) receive 25% off their second class taken with the same instructor. Fees may be paid monthly or by semester. Costume fees for the Spring Show are due at Spring registration. (Estimated $25 to rent.) Wear clothes and shoes easy to dance in. Students are encouraged to stretch and practice what they learn in class at home a few minutes each day.

Requirements:
No previous experience required. This class will be performing in the Spring Dance Shows the week of May 15-20. We are still working on our plans for the spring show, but please reserve that week now on your calendar. Our format will most likely be similar to our last spring show, with our youngest students performing in two of the four shows. Details will be related in full at our mandatory parent meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday, February 27th. Parental attendance to this meeting is essential in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer. Each family is required to have one parent volunteer to help in some way with the show. Students will be immersed in all things equine. History, art, science, care, health practices. The scientific process of observation, measurement, hypothesis, data gathering, interpretation, analysis, and application are stressed. We will explore career opportunities as well as recreational uses of the horse. Learning activities are varied with a lot of hands on experiences. This is a learning through experience class that will have opportunities to learn outside of the classroom (additional cost may apply to field trips) Saddle up for a really fun class!
Horse crazy? Ready to use this interest to spur investigation, exploration, and creativity? We will cover equestrian sports, anatomy, showing, careers, breeds, horse behavior, care and much more. We will do fun art projects, find a favorite horse book, do a few short writing projects, hands on time with tack, and use videos to explore the world of horses. Giddy up!
Students will have an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom at the end of the term (additional cost will apply). This experience will include riding and grooming in a group setting. Date TBD.
The name says it all - in this class we will be performing all sorts of explosions and learning what it is that makes them go BANG! Each day will feature a new explosion including: bottle caps, soap, watermelon, volcanoes, and more. This class will be a whole lot of fun, but for safety reasons please be sure your students can pay attention in a classroom setting and follow directions well.
This class is designed teach classic ancient history through a biblical worldview. It is a one year class that will meet weekly. Students will learn the archaeological and historical evidence for the Scriptures. The bulk of the class will be spent learning how Israel and the Early Church interacted with and were impacted by major people groups in history. We will explore Mesopotamia, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome.
I am a Washington State certificated teacher, who taught ancient history in a public middle school for eight years. (2013-2021). I also was a Biblical Studies major at Multnomah University. My teaching experience and education combined has equipped me to see history with a Christian worldview. I find it exciting to see what God has done in the past and knowing that helps us to trust his faithfulness today. My hope is to foster a deeper love of God and love of learning in students and help them see history on God's timeline.

Others will be submitted in person depending on the activity. There will be some homework so students can receive credit for their high school transcript.

This class is designed for middle and high school students grades 6-12. It is a year-long course.
Section 1: Reading to Write: Students will need to purchase Madeline l'Engle's, "A Wrinkle in Time." The book will be read mostly as homework with discussion questions (in class and at home). Students will produce an essay based on their reading. Basic essay skills will be taught as well in this section.
Section 2: Research Skills and Essay Writing: Students will write a research paper and learn how to properly cite sources (MLA format, in text and bibliography). Students will receive guidance on how to research effectively but will be granted choice in their topics (Center appropriate). Students are expected to use both print and digital sources. A presentation of the research will be given at the end of the unit.
Section 3: Public Speaking and Life Skills: The class will also cover public speaking. Students will do speech where they learn how to write cue cards and speak confidently. This class will also cover interview skills and basic resume writing.
Students will need, a writer's notebook, pencil, highlighters, sticky notes, and "A Wrinkle in Time." A computer and internet at home will be needed. in order to access print sources for their research, the public library may be needed as well. Students will submit work through Google Classroom.
Students will be given a letter grade at the end of each semester to receive credit for their transcript. Therefore, they should anticipate weekly homework.
