Luke & Acts
Ages 12yr-18yr
Carr, Jeff
Winter/Spring 2021
Theology
- Bible
Schedule:
Wednesday - Dance Studio B - 118: 5:00 pm - 5:50 pm
Description:
A proper study of Luke and Acts will provide an excellent introduction to the life of Christ and the church that He established with His blood.
Scholars generally agree that Luke, the “beloved physician” (Col. 4:14), wrote both the gospel that bears his name and the book of Acts. The structure and language of each are similar and they are both ad-dressed to a man named Theophilus. Acts 1:1 refers to “the former account,” that Theophilus had received, referring to the book of Luke.
The book of Luke is a gospel, an account of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. The book of Acts is a history of the be¬ginning and growth of the church. When studied consecutively, one gets a panoramic view of this crucial time in history when God sent His Son to save man (Gal. 4:4) in accordance with His eternal purpose (Eph. 1:4). When finished with the study, you will know more about the person and work of Jesus Christ. You will also learn about the church He established. Not only will this information prove of great personal benefit in your pursuit of a relationship with God, but it will also provide valuable background for future Bible studies, whether in the Old or New Testament.
The main approach we will use in this study is simply to read what God has said in His word and answer a few questions about what we have read. God’s word is meant to be read and understood, and then applied by every person. While we may find some of the details difficult, the main message will be clear if we read the book with an open mind.

Join me for a special time of prayer, sharing a meal, and playtime for young children at our center. The Bible encourages us to break bread with one another, and this class provides a wonderful opportunity to do so. In our beautiful early education space, featuring large windows and developmentally appropriate materials, we will gather at a long table. Children should bring a packed healthy meal. Once everyone arrives, we will read scripture, pray, and eat together, discussing manners and good table conversation. After the meal, we will enjoy playtime, followed by cleanup, and conclude with a song and prayer. The supply fee is for extra fruits and veggies for all the children.
