Requirements:
No previous experience required. Parents are required to view and sign the dance department syllabus available at: https://fphrc.groupzu.com/page/view/dance and attend a Mandatory Parent Meeting on September 19th at 7pm. The Christmas Dance show will require minimal parent involvement. Christmas Dance Show Dress Rehearsal: 12/8; Christmas Dance Show Performances: 12/9 @6pm, 12/10 @1:30pm, and 12/10 @6:30pm (Child and Youth level dance classes will each be performing in only one show). The Spring Dance show will require significant parent involvement. Spring Dance Show Dress Rehearsal and Performances will be the week of 5/16-5/20. Costume rental fees are included in the term admin fees.

Students in this class will be performing in our wonderful Spring Dance Show that is focused on the life of Christ. This class will be performing in the Spring Dance Shows the week of May 16-22, final dates TBD. Details will be provided in full at our mandatory parent meeting to be held at 7pm on Monday, February 28th. (We are adjusting some things that should enable students to invite more family and friends to enjoy the event. We are considering all young student and level one classes to be split among the performances, but also to offer more performances that will allow better viewing opportunities and parking.) Parental attendance to this meeting is mandatory in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer’s performance. Please read the updated class syllabus that is pinned to your class channel. Students taking multiple classes (or siblings) receive 25% off their second class taken with the same instructor. Fees may be paid monthly or by semester. Costume fees for the Spring Show are due at Spring registration. (Estimated $25 to rent.) Wear clothes and shoes easy to dance in. Students are encouraged to stretch and practice what they learn in class at home a few minutes each day.

We are still working on our plans for the spring show, but please reserve that week now on your calendar. Our format will most likely be similar to our last spring show, with our youngest students performing in two of the four shows. Parental attendance to this meeting is essential in order to ensure clarity of information and the success of your dancer. Each family is required to have one parent volunteer to help in some way with the show. Description:
Hip Hop Lower Level 2 (Previously Hip Hop 1) is a beginner hip hop class for ages 8-11. Students will learn to understand and apply knowledge of hip-hop fundamentals. There is emphasis on rhythm and proper technique all while maintaining a fun and high energy class.
This is a yearlong class and students will be performing in two performances for our Spring Dance Show “For Such A Time As This”. Dress Rehearsal and Shows are April 23-26. Hip Hop Lower Level 3 (Previously Hip Hop 2) - Must be ages 8+ with 1-3 years experience – Beginner/Intermediate Level. Upon completion of Intro to hip hop technique, there will be concentration developing proper dance alignments, memorization, rhythm, flexibility, strength and an array of techniques to prep for a functioning classroom environment and dancing at higher levels. This is a yearlong class and students will be performing in two performances for our Spring Dance Show “For Such A Time As This” . Dress Rehearsal and Shows are April 23-26. Description:
Hip Hop Upper Level 1 (Previously Hip Hop 3) - Must be ages 9+ with 2-5 years experience – Intermediate Level. Concentration on learning through movement, choreography and grooves will be a must in this class. Students will learn to keep themselves in shape through core workouts and conditioning exercises. Choreography will be super fun designed to improve flexibility, rhythm and extension while maintaining proper technique and timing. This is a yearlong class and students will be performing in all four performances for our Spring Dance Show “For Such A Time As This” . Dress Rehearsal and Shows are April 23-26. Hip Hop Upper Level 2 (Teen Hip Hop) - This class is focused on introducing teen dancers to basic music listening skills, body awareness, and understanding of hip hop fundamentals. Teen Hip Hop classes focus on listening to the beat and rhythm of hip-hop music, developing a sense of musicality and timing. Hip Hop can be a powerful tool for teens to explore their identity and develop confidence through movement and artistic expression. The class will foster community and fellowship, providing a supportive environment for teens to learn and grow. This is a yearlong class and students may be performing in all four performances for our Spring Dance Show “For Such A Time As This” . Dress Rehearsal and Shows are April 23-26. This Class may be in both Show A and B. This will be determined before December. They will also be performing in the Spring Dance Show “Moses and The God Who Delivers” (May 15th-18th).
