Each week we will have an art craft which kids are welcome to participate in but if social and sensory play is more appealing they are welcome stay playing and creating together. :)
Montessori has the ultimate scientifically-based way to address child development. As a Paraprofessional Educator for Battle Ground School District in the special needs area I have learned the importance of creative free play for kids. As a homeschooling Mama myself, my two children and I utilize the Montessori approach and we all love it!
This class is about tangibly teaching kids the fruit that’s produced in us when we have the Holy Spirit! We will learn about love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control found in Galatians 5:22-23. We will talk about how to practically show some of these traits in our daily activities (ex. spread joy to a neighbor). Each week we will do crafts, sing songs and read stories that go along with each fruit.
Requirements:
This class is great for 4-6 year olds who can sit for 10-15 minute stories, listen to several step directions, use scissors and glue safely. All children need to go potty before class begins so we can spend our time playing and learning.
This will be a fun class to explore different ways to draw and color faces! We'll be making faces out of crayons, tissue paper, cardboard, nature, and food. We'll also be working with balloons in one class as well as making their silhouette in front of a sunset. I will teach students how to draw each part of a face throughout the weeks as we work on various projects. They'll mostly be drawing self portraits and people they know. I will need them to bring in photo references on certain weeks to work from. Enjoy a pop of color to your walls with what they bring home!
In this class, students will learn to develop their observational skills, fine-tune their technical abilities, and increase understanding of color and values.
No previous art knowledge is required. Materials include sketchbook and materials we will use in class.
This is an introductory course designed to focus on the fundamentals of photography including building an understanding of aperture, shutter speed, lighting, and composition. This class encourages student independence, motivation, and responsibility. Students of all ability and experience levels are welcome. Homework: 3+ hours each week. Requirements: digital camera (either a basic point and shoot camera or a DSLR. No phone cameras, please) and a memory card. Supplemental packets which include readings, worksheets and assignments will be provided.
