Part of our new Living Roots Agriculture and Natural Resources program! Interactive opportunities resulting in local agriculture and natural resources. During this year long class, we will be covering various topics related to animal products, farm to table, forestry, wildlife management, ecology, and stewardship. Students will be responsible for completing supervised agricultural experiences (SAE) resulting in personal growth of initiative, accountability, and leadership. Students and parents can look forward to four Friday/or Saturday field-trips, in-class guest speakers and producing tangible goods. Parents will be responsible for collaborating with their student to complete at home expectations.

Description:
This is a CORE class that meets twice a week for the full year. CORE classes have greater expectations of students, parents, and teachers. Parents are required to attend the mandatory CORE Classes Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 26th at 6:45pm or August 28th at 2:45pm. Algebra 1 course covers: positive and negative numbers, variables, graphs (lines, circles, ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas), absolute value, metric conversions, negative and fractional exponents, square roots, factoring polynomials, and more. It is very important that the student has a good understanding of: fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), multiplication and division of decimals and solving for an unknown.
Requirements:
Math U See Algebra 1 Student Pack ( this includes their workbook and test book).
Students will watch a required video before coming to class each Monday.
Parents are required to sign their students workbook and test book each week.
I have enjoyed teaching math for many years now and strive to make this class as enjoyable and pain-free as possible, but with that said the student will definitely need to put in the time each week to complete their homework. It is a twice a week class, Mondays and Wednesdays. I have made videos for the student to watch each week before they come to class, which will provide them with a clear picture of what to expect for the week, not to mention I do a portion of their homework in the videos. 😊 The videos will also help if your family is out of town or the student misses a class. You will need to have Google classroom to view the videos and Marco Polo for one on one communication as needed.
Major Concepts and Skills Covered:
*Graphing linear equations and inequalities
*Describing linear equations in slope-intercept and standard form
*Solving systems of equations using graphing, substitution, and elimination
*Expanding understanding of exponents
*Solving basic quadratic equations with factoring
*Using unit multipliers to convert between units of measure
Requires Math U See Algebra 1. Prealgebra prerequisite.
Homework: 1-2 depending upon the students knowledge of the subject
