Description:Exploring the Bible chronologically starting with Creation, all while learning the ABCs, doing crafts, and lots of fun sensory activities.
Requirements:This class is in a Seedlings Co-op track. Each Seedlings track consists of two classes (Block A and B). By registering for this class, your child will automatically be registered for both blocks. Parents are required to help in a class during one of the two blocks, and will be assigned a class before the start of the session. Description:Firmly Planted IGNITE summer camps all start with 30 minutes of group chapel followed by 2 1/2 hours of specialty camps designed to ignite your student's faith. Cost includes a camp t-shirt. This is a fun, hands-on camp for young students who love to be creative. Each day students will focus on specific areas of God's beautiful creation as they learn techniques and make projects of their own. Students will use a variety of mixed-media combinations for 2-D and 3-D work. Themes for each day will include Birds of the Air, Fishies in the Sea, Elephants on the Plain, and Flutterbies & Flowers.

MS Ancient History Through a Biblical Lens (Spring) Ages 10yr-14yr Rachael Becker Spring 2023 Social Studies

Description:This class is designed teach classic ancient history through a biblical worldview. It is a one year class that will meet weekly. Students will learn the archaeological and historical evidence for the Scriptures. The bulk of the class will be spent learning how Israel and the Early Church interacted with and were impacted by major people groups in history. We will explore Mesopotamia, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome. I am a Washington State certificated teacher, who taught ancient history in a public middle school for eight years. (2013-2021). I also was a Biblical Studies major at Multnomah University. My teaching experience and education combined has equipped me to see history with a Christian worldview. I find it exciting to see what God has done in the past and knowing that helps us to trust his faithfulness today. My hope is to foster a deeper love of God and love of learning in students and help them see history on God's timeline.
Requirements:Middle School class grades 5-8. Students will need a notebook, pencil, highlighters, sticky notes, and their Bible. Google Classroom will be used for some assignments. Others will be submitted in person depending on the activity.

Description:I teach private piano lessons Levels 1-6, with a commitment to developing students’ piano playing skills and love for music in a nurturing environment. I am a graduate of Prairie Bible College and Pensacola Christian College, with a Level 10 Piano Certificate from Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) and over 35 years teaching experience, especially classical and church music. I use Faber Piano Adventures as the basic curriculum, which presents a variety of musical styles through fun pieces and duets with teacher. Additional supplemental “favorite” pieces are encouraged, according to the student’s interest. There are two opportunities a year to perform in recitals. Fee is $95/month for 30 minute lesson (young beginners) or $130/month for 45 minute lesson (older beginners and intermediate).
Requirements:A piano or keyboard at home for practice. Faber Piano Adventures Lesson, Technique and Performance books, according to appropriate level. Focused practice 20 min/day ages 5-7 and 30 min/day ages 8+. A parent is required to be present and observe lessons for children ages 10 and under, and to provide guidance during home practice time.

Fourth through eighth-grade students will gain inspiration from this theme as they work on three major creative projects: handmade books with mixed-media illustrations, painted clay fish relief sculptures, and animal printmaking. Students will learn several techniques, gain art vocabulary, and have a fun and enriching time as they create these colorful projects.

Description:Students will study and investigate history through the lens of art. How did art genres respond to or become influenced by the social, political, and environmental climate of the day? What were the governing bodies of the time, what was civilization like, what have we pieced together from archeological discoveries and how do all of these events and people correspond with a biblical timeline? *************New students may join and will receive ½ History credit for their academic transcript. Spring term will begin with the latter half of the Classical Antiquity period beginning with the Romanesque & Gothic genres.
Requirements:****Materials: Purchase the Master and His Apprentices text book ($35 e-book) Students will supply a dedicated three ring binder (1 ½ - 2”) with topic dividers to keep their handouts, textbook and assignments organized. ****Time Management: There will be approximately 2.5 hours of homework per week on average (30 minutes/day), including time spent on Midterm and Final projects. ****Access to a computer and printer, as well as the ability to access Google Scholar and/or peer reviewed library text for generating research to complete assignments is necessary. • Supply & teacher payments are due January 9th. Families must respond to Groupzu invoices by this deadline to keep their standing in the class.

Description:Chess is great for improving a young person’s concentration and strategic thinking. Educational research has shown that students who learn chess have improved their math abilities, and their general academic performance. Chess Club Grades 7-12 will be a two hour session each week at FPHRC. Our goals are to learn the most effective tactics for winning chess including pawn structures, forks, skewering, discovered checks, forcing moves, end game strategies and patterns, how to help each other reach their potential as chess players and Christian young people. Every session will include a motivational Chess “Life Lesson” as we discuss what God wants us to learn from life and playing chess. We are thankful to God for the success of the chess program at FPHRC. We have won first place, and third place as a team at chess tournament competitions. This will be Mr. Snyder's third semester at FPHRC. He has a college degree in Art and a Masters in Teaching from WSUV. He has been a public and private school teacher for the last 16 years. Before that he was an advertising manager, graphic designer, and computer technician. He is currently a professional artist and substitute teacher in six districts in Clark County. He enjoys Bible Study, chess, reading, swimming, and hiking. He is a widower with an adult son and daughter.

Description:Firmly Planted IGNITE summer camps all start with 30 minutes of group chapel followed by 2 1/2 hours of specialty camps designed to ignite your student's faith. Cost includes a camp t-shirt. During the course of this camp, we will create a variety of art works using a wide array of materials and techniques. These may include, but are not limited to: oil paints, watercolor paints, acrylic paints, liquid watercolors, paper clay, polymer clay, oil pastels, chalk pastels, collage, and/or foil embossing. Please have students wear clothes that are appropriate for art activities--they may get stained or damaged. We will take a short mid-morning snack break each day. I will provide snacks. Please have your students bring their own water bottles. (If your student has special dietary needs, please inform me. They may need to bring their own snacks.)
