| Description: | Chess is great for improving a young person’s concentration and strategic thinking. Educational research has shown that students who learn chess have improved their math abilities, and their general academic performance. Our goals for students in the Beginner Club to learn how to play chess and to learn the beginning principles of using the pieces, openings, strategies, tactics, and how to help each other reach their potential as chess players and Christians. Every session will include a motivational chess “Life Lesson” as we discuss what God wants us to learn from life and playing chess. We are thankful to God for the success of the chess program at FPHRC. We have won first place and third place as a team at chess tournament competitions. |
