| Description: | In Concert Choir at FPHRC, students will have the opportunity to make engaging, quality and beautiful music with others, to take the next steps in their music education, build lasting relationships, and most importantly honor God in each of these. Ensemble music-making is integral to the musical education of every musician whether experienced, or a beginner. They will develop collaborative skills that solo performance does not offer, gain a greater sense of musical artistry through the internalization of music by movement, and gain exposure to different genres and styles of music. Concert Choir carries on the American choral tradition of singing traditional choral literature, along with new literature being written in view of that tradition as well as the worship and church choir tradition.
It is also my calling to help students develop a more robust faith in Jesus by understanding their talents can help spread the gospel, and that serving one another both to brings glory to God and helps us make better music. Choir is the perfect place to instill these values. |
| Requirements: | This is a year-long course and full-year commitment is expected so that we are able to build on the skills we learn through the course of the year. Also expected this that students are able to participate in both the Spring and Fall dress rehearsals and concerts. Please make sure you are available to attend the dress rehearsal and concert dates before signing up for both semesters:
The Fall dress rehearsal will be on Tuesday Dec. 16, (in the evening, time TBD), and the Fall concert will be on Wednesday, Dec. 17 (in the evening, time TBD). For Spring semester the dress rehearsal will be on Tuesday, May 19, and the concert will be on Wednesday, May 20, (both in the evening, times TBD).
Audition and range-check policy: All new students must audition. Returning students do not need to audition but may be asked to schedule a range-check. Returning students aged 14 are required to schedule a range-check either before the first day of choir or within the first two weeks. Please contact Jonathan Metz on Slack to schedule an audition or range check. |
