I have enjoyed teaching math for many years now and strive to make this class as enjoyable and pain-free as possible, but with that said the student will definitely need to put in the time each week to complete their homework. It is a twice a week class, Mondays and Wednesdays. I have made videos for the student to watch each week before they come to class, which will provide them with a clear picture of what to expect for the week, not to mention I do a portion of their homework in the videos. 😊 The videos will also help if your family is out of town or the student misses a class. You will need to have Google classroom to view the videos and Marco Polo for one on one communication as needed.
Major Concepts and Skills Covered:
*Graphing linear equations and inequalities
*Describing linear equations in slope-intercept and standard form
*Solving systems of equations using graphing, substitution, and elimination
*Expanding understanding of exponents
*Solving basic quadratic equations with factoring
*Using unit multipliers to convert between units of measure
Requires Math U See Algebra 1. Prealgebra prerequisite.
Homework: 1-2 depending upon the students knowledge of the subject
This is a CORE class that meets twice a week for the full year. CORE classes have greater expectations of students, parents, and teachers. Parents are required to attend the mandatory CORE Classes Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 27th at 6:45pm or August 29th at 2:45pm.
This course covers: positive and negative numbers, variables, graphs (lines, circles, ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas), absolute value, metric conversions, negative and fractional exponents, square roots, factoring polynomials, and more. It is very important that the student has a good understanding of: fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), decimals and precents, and solving for an unknown.
Students will have access to a weekly video they are required to watch before coming to class each Monday.
Parents are required to sign their students workbook and test book each week.

In this class we will continue to use the Math-U-See Algebra 1 curriculum to develop a deeper understanding of concepts such as: graphing linear equations and inequalities, slope-intercept vs. standard form, solving systems of equations, exponents, quadratic equations, converting between units of measure, and more. This class is held on both Mondays and Wednesdays, and in addition, students will be expected to complete 2-3 hours of homework each week. Extra videos may be provided for additional support.
Math-U-See is a skills-based program that focuses on student mastery of a concept before progressing to the next concept. A syllabus will be provided for students and parents.
This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of Algebra 2 and its underlying concepts using the Math-U-See system. The curriculum will include both theory and application. This course will be appropriate for anyone who has successfully completed Algebra 1, and has a solid grasp of fractions, factors and multiples, radicals, negative numbers, and exponents. Students taking the Algebra 2 course will learn the following skills: advanced exponents; rational expressions and factoring; polynomials and quadratics; linear equations and graphs; basic conic sections and systems of equations
Requirements:
Students must have the Math-U-See Student Pack for Algebra 2 and a TI-36X Pro calculator ($20). In addition, a pad of graph paper, pencil(s) with eraser, a straightedge or ruler, and a protractor, are required. Parents must sign each page of the lesson tests, which are due each Monday. Parents must also sign each page of the three unit tests, which are due on scheduled Mondays throughout the year.
