Triple Play Sports will focus on basketball, dodgeball, and capture the flag. It's about what the students want to play! There will also be conditioning and warm ups. I'll offer 10 min workouts for those that may want one from time to time as a challenge with super sets. We will cover individual skills, strategies, and fundamentals, as well as teamwork, good sportsmanship, in each game. Here is a breakdown of skills for each sport. Basketball we will dribble, pass, shoot, and learn offense/defense through drills, competitive fun games, and scrimmages. In dodgeball we will improve agility & balance, hand-eye coordination, while strengthen reflexes and muscles. A new variation is called triple dipper dodgeball. Capture the flag is all about learning many strategies for winning the game with speed, defensive & offensive tactics, endurance, & agility. Other games include gladiator ball, pickleball, ultimate tag, four square, and tug of war. Our class is built to increase cardiovascular health, fosters social & emotional skills, strategic thinkers, and a bunch of fun!
TUTORING: Firmly Planted is excited to provide teens with the opportunity to earn money while tutoring a subject they’ve proven to be efficient in. The younger students being tutored benefit by learning from someone closer to their age, potentially creating a lasting friendship. Appointments with the teen tutors are all scheduled through Collette Connor (colletteconnorfirmlyplanted@gmail.com) at a standard rate of $17 an hour. MENTORING: A part of His Heart Foundation, MentorSuccess is a mentoring program that utilizes curated books, literature, and games to teach vital leadership success skills through a caring connection with a trained teen. This is a great opportunity for your student to form a relationship with an adult or teen mentor at the Center. These mentors will become like a buddy to your student as well as someone who will listen, read books, and play games with them. Your student may hardly notice how much they’re learning and the valuable life lessons being taught, while engaging in fun activities with their new friend and mentor. Appointments with mentors are all scheduled through Collette Connor (colletteconnorfirmlyplanted@gmail.com) at a standard rate of $17 an hour.

Description:
Coach Matt's goal is to develop champions beyond the wrestling mat. He has a structured program based on values, commitment, and skills development to help these boys grasp and grow into the men of God they're meant to be. We will unpack the pillars of being a real man: rejecting passivity, accepting responsibility, leading courageously, and expecting a greater reward.
Our theme is based on 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.”
The fundamentals of wrestling include basic skills, drills, and techniques in a fun and positive environment. Our practices are focused on more than just wrestling; we aim to create a supportive and encouraging space for your boys. Wrestling is a unique sport because it teaches values that last a lifetime. It builds character and teaches kids how to overcome obstacles and failure, handle emotions, respect authority, have a strong work ethic, discipline, resilience, accountability, and be a good teammate.
We will arrange some intersquad/internal competitions so the boys can showcase what they’ve learned.
Wrestling shoes are not necessary. Please bring plenty of water and socks.

Coach Matt’s Wrestling Class | Our theme is rooted in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14: "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love." Mission: Raise champions for life — on the mat and for eternity. We use wrestling as a hook to build young men of God through skill development, values, and brotherhood. We will unpack the Four Pillars of Godly Manhood by rejecting passivity, accepting responsibility, leading courageously, and expecting a greater reward. In a fun, positive environment, the young men will learn fundamental wrestling skills, drills, and techniques while growing in character. Wrestling uniquely builds resilience, discipline, work ethic, self-control, respect for authority, accountability, and teamwork — values that last far beyond the mat. Highlights are four intrasquad competitions so they can showcase their growth. Also, a supportive brotherhood, and an encouraging atmosphere. Bring plenty of water, socks, and a teachable heart. No wrestling shoes required. I’m excited to partner with you in raising courageous, godly young men!
