Description:
This class is a hands-on adventure of learning the old craftsmanship of wheel throwing. It is geared towards ALL LEVELS of pottery students, from beginning to advanced.Throughout the weeks I give demos and work with them individually, helping them to build on their skills. Students have the opportunity to learn from a potter how to be a potter. From beginning to end in the wet clay work, the decoration and the trimming, the glazing and the firing, they will learn how to make vessels in clay including bowls, cups, plates and vases.They will be sketching pots, making pots, building new friendships and having loads of fun as they get their hands into clay and water. While this is primarily a hands-on class, students will also be keeping a pottery notebook in which they will be encouraged to write notes, journal and sketch throughout the week.This taps into some art, design and science studies. They’ll be learning basic terminology of the ceramics studio from kiln to kaolin as they study temperatures and techniques, form and function. If your student is curious, passionate about it already or even rather intimidated, sign them up! You never know until you try. This class is excellent for socialization and teamwork as the pottery studio becomes a weekly source of art therapy and camaraderie.

Looking for a way to keep your teen active, healthy, and confident? This new class teaches how to build life long wellness through safe and effective workouts that get results in a fun supportive environment. This program is designed for each student to train at their own level. We will work through resistance, power, and plyometrics with proper form to gain better sports performance, posture, build lean muscle, improving speed, balance, agility, and coordination. Warm up to cool down will be packed full of individual challenges and friendly competitions. Class will either start or finish with a game for more teamwork fun and good sportsmanship.
Triple Play Sports will focus on basketball, dodgeball, and capture the flag. It's about what the students want to play! There will also be conditioning and warm ups. I'll offer 10 min workouts for those that may want one from time to time as a challenge with super sets. We will cover individual skills, strategies, and fundamentals, as well as teamwork, good sportsmanship, in each game. Here is a breakdown of skills for each sport. Basketball we will dribble, pass, shoot, and learn offense/defense through drills, competitive fun games, and scrimmages. In dodgeball we will improve agility & balance, hand-eye coordination, while strengthen reflexes and muscles. A new variation is called triple dipper dodgeball. Capture the flag is all about learning many strategies for winning the game with speed, defensive & offensive tactics, endurance, & agility. Other games include gladiator ball, pickleball, ultimate tag, four square, and tug of war. Our class is built to increase cardiovascular health, fosters social & emotional skills, strategic thinkers, and a bunch of fun!

The younger students being tutored benefit by learning from someone closer to their age, potentially creating a lasting friendship. MENTORING: A part of His Heart Foundation, MentorSuccess is a mentoring program that utilizes curated books, literature, and games to teach vital leadership success skills through a caring connection with a trained teen. This is a great opportunity for your student to form a relationship with an adult or teen mentor at the Center. These mentors will become like a buddy to your student as well as someone who will listen, read books, and play games with them. Your student may hardly notice how much they’re learning and the valuable life lessons being taught, while engaging in fun activities with their new friend and mentor.
