In addition, students will use their algebra skills and deductive reasoning to complete geometric proofs. Each week, students will be taught a new lesson on Mondays with review and practice on Wednesdays. Video lessons will be made available for support. Each week students will add a new flag stamp to their Passport and learn about that country's unique characteristics. We will also study & pray each week for different people groups around the world who need to hear about Jesus.
At the end of this year-long class, each student will take home an information-packed suitcase of all their work and projects.

We will travel thorough 6 continents, 24 countries, and learn about a new missionary for each continent. Each week students will add a new flag to their passport, learn about that country’s unique characteristics, label its map, make a craft – and sample tasty snacks to help get that well-rounded cultural experience. We will also study & pray each week for different people groups around the world who need to hear about Jesus. The goal is for our kids to be excited about different cultures, learn basic world geography, but most importantly, to have a heart for missions at home and abroad.

We live in a visual world. To make an impact on our world it is vital to be able to communicate visually. This class will present the fundamental concepts of visual communication. LORD willing it will be a year long journey from hand lettering and the use of type to producing a video for a YouTube channel. We will explore drawing, composition, use of color, designing and producing brand identity for a small business, digital photography principles, web design, children's book illustration, storyboarding, and more. We will use Photoshop, Premier Rush, Animate, and many of the software programs in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite of programs. We will learn how to draw on the Wacom One tablet screens in the Computer Lab.
So if you want to give your student an exposure to the world of graphic design, this is the class for you.
I'm Tom Snyder. I have a Master's degree in Teaching and about 60 years experience as a visual artist. I have worked as a school teacher for about the last 20 years. It would be great to be able to share what I have learned with your student.
Requirements:
I will provide a 3-Ring notebook, colored pencils, pens, and some paper. Your student needs to provide a desire to produce good work and communicate important ideas. You may want to provide other materials as we proceed through our time together but I would wait until you know what kind of project your student wants to do for an assignment.

This is the second semester of Graphic Design. We will build on learning from the first semester and then jump into more advanced projects like learning Adobe CC programs, designing web sites, producing videos, and simple 2D animation. We will explore drawing people, perspective drawing, composition, use of color, designing and producing brand identity for a small business, digital photography principles, web design, children's book illustration, storyboarding, and more. We will use Photoshop, Indesign, and other Adobe CC software programs. We will draw on paper and the Wacom One tablet screens in the Computer Lab.

The main objective of this course is to teach multimedia communication through learning basic graphics design elements, basic photography and photojournalism concepts, and to develop some journalism and communication skills by building a Firmly Planted 2022/23 yearbook. We will begin the fall semester by learning and developing basic design skills, including layout, graphic design, and digital art. We will learn the basics of portrait photography, studio portraits and photojournalism. We will develop journalistic skills, including writing, interviewing, and gathering information.
This is a year long class and our goal for the fall semester will be to produce all the photography and the production program for the Theater class. The spring semester, we will continue our study of graphics design, photography and journalistic skills with the goal of producing a center yearbook that reflects the experiences of this school year and is an accurate representation of the center. This class encourages student independence, motivation, and responsibility, especially in regards to producing the yearbook.
Requirements:
Students of all ability and experience levels are welcome. Homework: 2+ hours each week. Requirements: Digital camera and a memory card. The digital camera can be a point and shoot although preference would be a DSLR camera. Students will need access to a computer for homework and the ability to download some free software apps. In order to produce the portraits, theater programs and yearbook, students will be asked to attend events and activities outside of the class times. These are meant to be learning activities in which the student will get real world experience in the design, photography and journalism fields.
