The name says it all - in this class we will be performing all sorts of explosions and learning what it is that makes them go BANG! Each day will feature a new explosion including: bottle caps, soap, watermelon, volcanoes, and more. This class will be a whole lot of fun, but for safety reasons please be sure your students can pay attention in a classroom setting and follow directions well.
This class is designed teach classic ancient history through a biblical worldview. It is a one year class that will meet weekly. Students will learn the archaeological and historical evidence for the Scriptures. The bulk of the class will be spent learning how Israel and the Early Church interacted with and were impacted by major people groups in history. We will explore Mesopotamia, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome.

Others will be submitted in person depending on the activity. There will be some homework so students can receive credit for their high school transcript.

Students will produce an essay based on their reading. Basic essay skills will be taught as well in this section.
Section 2: Research Skills and Essay Writing: Students will write a research paper and learn how to properly cite sources (MLA format, in text and bibliography). Students will receive guidance on how to research effectively but will be granted choice in their topics (Center appropriate). Students are expected to use both print and digital sources. A presentation of the research will be given at the end of the unit.
Section 3: Public Speaking and Life Skills: The class will also cover public speaking. Students will do speech where they learn how to write cue cards and speak confidently. This class will also cover interview skills and basic resume writing.
Students will need, a writer's notebook, pencil, highlighters, sticky notes, and "A Wrinkle in Time." A computer and internet at home will be needed. in order to access print sources for their research, the public library may be needed as well. Students will submit work through Google Classroom.

During this hands-on interactive class students use playdough to model various systems and organs of the body. Students build and discuss six systems:
Musculo, Skeletal, Respiratory, Circulatory, Nervous, and Digestive.
They will also add to their own take home booklet “My Body God’s Plan” which will be completed at the end of the semester. With this kinesthetic approach students will build and learn! Its a wonderful way to memorize facts about our bodies and have fun doing it!

Equal parts Bible study, music appreciation, and history, this class is a deep dive into 16 of the world's most influential hymns. Each week students will learn the historical and biblical context of the hymn, memorize the hymn's lyrics and tune, and participate in a Bible study about the hymn's doctrinal truths. Students will also have the opportunity to practice basic music theory with a tin whistle!
Requirements:
Students must bring their tin whistle (provided with the materials fee) and Bible to every class.

We will use the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) curriculum called Bible- Based Writing Lessons 3rd edition. Students will use Bible stories and themes to learn to write with structure and style. Students will also have a list of books to read and vocabulary words to study.

Parents must be willing to help students at home with their writing including going back over the assignment details and editing paragraphs for spelling as well as going over their check sheet with them. This is a CORE class that meets once a week for the full year. Parents are required to attend the mandatory Core Parent Meeting immediately following Family Orientation on either August 24th at 2pm, August 24th at 6pm, September 7th at 2pm, or September 7th at 6pm.
This is a full year English class for students eleven to thirteen years old. The students will work through nine IEW units. They will learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, summarize multiple references, write essays, and compose formal critiques. They will also learn to use dress ups in their writing. This is not intended as a history class.
One to three students will be randomly selected weekly to read their paper or have the teacher read their paper out loud to the class.
Students will learn vocabulary words and take quizzes at home.
Students will read books from the book list and turn in responses. I love teaching this class.
Requirements:
Parents must listen to their students tell back their outlines in full sentences then edit their papers for them and correct their final draft. The outline, and check off sheet and rough draft and final draft all need to be turned in. Everything on the check off sheet needs to be underlined and labeled. Grades will be given according to what was asked for on the check off sheet. Parents must pay attention to slack. I will hand out a syllabus and post homework on slack weekly. Please check our channel regularly. If your student is going to miss a class or is having trouble with anything please communicate with me.
