Drama Basics and Beyond Ages 12yr-18yr Khrystyna Van Boxtel Fall 2023 Theater
Schedule: Wednesday - Auditorium - 002: 3:00 pm - 4:50 pm
Description:This class is to teach any who are interested, and specifically to prep our theater students for our spring production. With all the changes that came with the new building, we are taking a different approach to theater this fall. This class will cover lessons we don't have time to teach when the focus is on the performance/ materials. We will touch on all the basics (this is good even for experienced individuals as a reminder!), as well as try some more challenging activities to get or actors to think outside the box, and pretend they are holding said box (i.e. "object work")! We will practice our skills with games, exercises, excerpts of scenes, performing in front of peers, and more! Please note this is a safe place to try out acting for the first time, however every student needs to want to be there because acting is a very vulnerable experience, and having students that are negative or unwilling to participate can hinder other actors from learning. There will be a performance that we will charge $5 admission to cover the cost of scripts.
Requirements:Must be willing to participate in activities that might seem silly or embarrassing but are ultimately to grow the student into a better actor!

- World History
Schedule: Tuesday - Classroom - 218: 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm
Description:This class is designed teach classic ancient history through a biblical worldview. It is a one year class that will meet weekly. Students will learn the archaeological and historical evidence for the Scriptures. The bulk of the class will be spent learning how Israel and the Early Church interacted with and were impacted by major people groups in history. We will explore Mesopotamia, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome. I am a Washington State certificated teacher, who taught ancient history in a public middle school for eight years. (2013-2021). I also was a Biblical Studies major at Multnomah University. My teaching experience and education combined has equipped me to see history with a Christian worldview. I find it exciting to see what God has done in the past and knowing that helps us to trust his faithfulness today. My hope is to foster a deeper love of God and love of learning in students and help them see history on God's timeline.

Google Classroom will be used for some assignments. Others will be submitted in person depending on the activity.
