Description:Discovery Career and College Planning sessions will: -Provide formal and informal interest and strengths assessments to guide career and educational decisions. -Coach students through the exploration of passions, interests, and future career ideas. -Help identify students' ideal career paths and leisure activities. -Coach students and parents through exploration of post-secondary educational options, including college, trade school, apprenticeships, and gap year. -Help identify majors, areas of study, and extra-curricular experiences that can help students build their resume and knowledge base. I am a homeschooling mom with a Master of Science in College Counseling and Student Development from Azusa Pacific University. Prior to having children, I worked for 9 years in the college environment coaching college students and prospective college students on career topics, strengths development, and leadership. I am excited to bring this experience to homeschooled high school students to help them pave a successful path to college, career, and beyond! Parents are also welcome to participate in their students' coaching sessions. Sessions are $75 with a $10 materials fee for the Strong Interest Inventory career assessment. I am a homeschool mom and licensed and registered occupational therapist and can help you in all these areas, and more! OT evaluations/consultations are $100 and are approximately 1 hour. They include formal administration and scoring of appropriate developmental assessments and written report of intervention suggestions, sensory diets, and/or curriculum recommendations. Description:I can: Help identify behavior issues that may be caused by underlying learning and thinking differences. Teach strategies to improve focus, work habits, and be a more effective learner. Teach time management and organization skills. Work with parents to understand their child’s IEP or 504 plan and how to work with them at home, and advocate for them within the school setting. Provide a safe environment for your child to talk about school or learning challenges and learn how to self-advocate. Act as a link between home and school and/or help coordinate with other specialists both in and out of the school setting. Work towards goals set forth by other school or private professionals working with your child. Provide intervention level tutoring services and/or recommend programs to use with your struggling learner at home. $75/hr

Description:Are you a junior or senior in high school trying to figure out what to do after graduation? Do you have so many interests, you can’t decide which path to pursue? Then this new, semester-long Career Development Program is for you! The Career Development Program includes an intake Interview to gauge your interests, personalized job shadowing placements with professionals in the community, weekly workshops with special speakers, and access to top career research websites. Learn to trust God with your future, identify your personal and professional interests, begin to develop a strong resume, and so much more! Those who desire in-depth private career coaching, can meet with Amy Bafford, Career Coach, for an additional fee. In addition to weekly classes, students will go through 2-3 arranged job shadowing experiences in the community that align with their interests. The goal of the Career Development Program is to assist you in pursuing God’s direction and to provide excellent resources to help you prepare for a fulfilling future.
Requirements:Each student must bring a notebook and folder to class for note-taking and collecting any handouts. Regular attendance and respectful behavior are expected. Students will be responsible for transportation to the job shadow site and being responsible in that workplace.

Educational research has shown that students who learn chess have improved their math abilities, and their general academic performance. Chess Club Grades 7-12 will be a two hour session each week at FPHRC. Our goals are to learn the most effective tactics for winning chess including pawn structures, forks, skewering, discovered checks, forcing moves, end game strategies and patterns, how to help each other reach their potential as chess players and Christian young people. Every session will include a motivational Chess “Life Lesson” as we discuss what God wants us to learn from life and playing chess. We are thankful to God for the success of the chess program at FPHRC. We have won first place, and third place as a team at chess tournament competitions. This will be Mr. Snyder's third semester at FPHRC. He has a college degree in Art and a Masters in Teaching from WSUV. He has been a public and private school teacher for the last 16 years. Before that he was an advertising manager, graphic designer, and computer technician. He is currently a professional artist and substitute teacher in six districts in Clark County. He enjoys Bible Study, chess, reading, swimming, and hiking. He is a widower with an adult son and daughter.

Requirements:Students signing up for Chess Club Grades 4-6 should already know how to play chess but want to take their game to the next level. Students should be able to focus on learning and playing chess for extended periods of time. We want to see a positive attitude when you win or don't win. We want you to Love God and follow His teaching for your life.
