Arts
Schedule:
Tuesday - Dance Studio B - 118: 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm
Description:
This class will be helpful for anyone who is interested in learning how art developed throughout the ages. We will be learning a different period of art as it progressed each week, starting with cave art and ending with modern art. There will be a project each week based on what we’ve learned. For example, in the time of Mesopotamia, your homework will be a drawing of a statue in Persepolis. At the end, you’ll be expected to write an essay on what you’ve learned about the various art stages throughout history.
Sometimes your student may have gaps between classes, students are not allowed to be unsupervised. Study hall gives your student a place to come and study, do homework, maybe meet some new people while being supervised. Students may be in Study hall at any time they're not in class. This isn't a place to be loud and obnoxious, you'll be asked to leave if that is the case; but it is a place to throw in your earbuds, study by yourself or with a friend and make the best use of your time.
Must bring their own material.

Arts
Schedule:
Tuesday - Auditorium - 002: 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm
Description:
This class introduces students to the core fundamentals and principles of improv, focusing on various games and exercises that encourage trust, communication, agreement (“yes and”), character, status, and making your scene partner look good.
We will focus on skills needed for character work, an element essential to dynamic improvised scenes. Actors will explore creating their characters through both internal motivations (point of view, status, wants and intentions) and external motivations (like experimenting with physicality). Actors learn how to make choices in scenes that help define their character. We will complete active exercises that explore different ways to create and sustain characters in a scene. We will also continue to hone the skills necessary for doing strong scene work and building ensemble.
Additional outside workshops and performance/competition opportunities may be available throughout the year at an additional cost.
Improv students will be able to perform for family and friends at the Main Stage Theatre
Showcase on April 27th (mandatory dress rehearsal April 26th).
Prerequisite: Must have been enrolled in fall term. This class is not accepting new students.
In this class we will continue to use the Math-U-See Pre-Algebra curriculum to develop a deeper understanding of concepts such as: integers, order of operations, simplifying and evaluating exponents and radicals, absolute value, place value, and more. This class is held on both Mondays and Wednesdays, and in addition, students will be expected to complete 1-2 hours of homework each week. Extra videos may be provided for additional support.
Math-U-See is a skills-based program that focuses on student mastery of a concept before progressing to the next concept. A syllabus will be provided for students and parents.
