Description:Basic Electricity: Ohm's law, Watt's law, Series/Parallel circuits, Meter readings. Basic Electricity Syllabus: SAFETY FIRST AND FOREMOST 1. Where does electricity come from, how is it developed for our homes and Industry. 2. Understanding 120 volt ac, 220 volt ac, the neutral conductor, the grounding conductor. 3. Electrical Panel, Breakers, and Fuses. 4. Safety in the electrical world, and milli-amps being a hazard. 5. Understanding the Law's of Volts, Amphere's, Resistance (Ohm's), Power (Watts). Electro-Motive- Force (E), Induction (I), Resistance (Ohm's), Watts (P). 6. Kirchoff's Law for series circuits . 7. Lab on Series circuits. 8. Kirchoff's Law for Parallel circuits. 9. Lab on Parallel circuits. 10. Test instrument Volt-Ohm-Meter, Analog and Digital, supplied by instructor. 11. Lab on Wiring a Switch, Light Bulb, and Recepticle (outlet). Using 6 to 12 volts D.C.. 12. Same principle as home Alternation Current (voltage). 14. There will be a lot of discussion, students questions will be answered at the time they are asked, and lots of discussion between instructor and students. 15. Instructor will supply handouts and materials.

Description:Basic hand sewing techniques for fashion and everyday objects used inside and outside the home. In this course we will complete 2 smaller projects and one fashion project. This fashion project will be selected with the student and myself with approval of parents from historical sewing books. These books are AMAZING for custom fitted items with out the hassle of altering a pattern. It may seam like this is not beginner level but creating your own pattern from the step by step graphing technique used in historical books it is much easier than using someone else’s pattern in the basic sizing options given. Projects: Leather thimble, Needle Book and fashion project.

Description:Students will learn to use basic hand tools: Screwdrivers, Types of Pliers, Measuring tapes( Fractions and Decimal), Scales , Pry bars (Leverage), Types of hammers, Open end wrenches, Box end wrenches, Pipe wrenches, Adjustable wrenches, American verses Metric measurement, Hand saws, Framing square, Types of Clamps, Types of files, Gages for Wire. Mechanical Tools: Taps and Dies, punches, Scribes, Types of Nails, Types of Screws, Vises, Drill Sizes in Fractions, Types of Reamers. Angular measurements (Sine, Cosine, Tangent). Electrical tools, and their Safety and Maintenance: Drills, Types of saws, Types of Grinders, Types of Sanders Types of Electrical Meters. Safety glasses, and all materials supplied by instructor.

Beginner Crochet: Learn the Basics With Fun Projects! Ages 7yr-16yr Sarah Van Loo Spring 2022 Arts

Description:Students will be learning the basics of crochet. They will complete three projects (a dishcloth, keychain hearts, and a Granny Square Purse). Prior experience is not required. Students will receive a crochet hook set along with yarn for each project. If a student wishes they may learn the modern (slightly harder) granny squares.
