During the span of this class, we will be making a rustic serving tray from reclaimed wood and a rustic wall decor piece! Practical items that can be taken home and used on a daily basis while learning woodworking skills that they can hold on to for years to come! What will the kids be learning about in this class? - Different types of wood - Different purposes for the different types of wood - Basic woodworking tools and their uses - How to make straight cuts - Gluing wood (the proper way) - Lots about sanding and the different coarse grits of sandpaper - What to seal/finish your project with (food-grade oil and non-food grade oil) - And much more! My goal is to teach practical skills that can be carried on through the years of growing up whether they do woodworking as a profession when they get older or to just be able to use it as a hobby. Also, I want to inspire future woodworkers to chase their dreams if they have that desire to do woodworking as a profession when they grow up.
