- Ceramics
Schedule: Tuesday - Ceramics Studio - 004: 10:00 am - 10:50 am
Description:In this class students will be learning about decoration, carving, smoothing, sculpting and construction in clay. Over the course of our 16 weeks together, we will be doing so many fun projects from tiles and cups to pendants and boxes! Inevitably, there will also be sweet little independent creations like pizzas, dice and lizards. Your students will have plenty of creative freedom and even have the opportunity to team up for some joint sculptural projects. Tactile contact is one of the first experiences we have in this life so touching clay and experiencing ceramic art is a very grounding experience. The ceramic studio becomes a weekly source of art therapy, camaraderie and joy. Students will have some minimal cleanup chores, like washing the wooden tools and sponges in the provided water buckets or wiping down their areas after glazing days. Junior ceramic students are bound to have a lot of fun together in this class as they learn the old craftsmanship of working with clay.
